Default Quick engine bay query

The pics of the engine bay on Falkeens oh so sweet black XR ute show an engine cover thatsits between the snorkel and the (excuse lack of technical term) other end of the motor at the windshield end.

Is this an off-the shelf part or are they custom made? Sorry not sure what its called...in the pics of Falkeen's ute (Show n Shine thread) it's all autographed and looks sweet as.

Also curious if someone can tell me about the air filter and polished pipe, the filter looks different shape etc to my K&N stickered box...and does the polished part help anything or just look fantastic? ? ?

Thanks and sorry for the lame questions. . .

The engine cover can be purchased from Ford for $850. That is what I was quoted but look around such as ebay, wreckers ect and you with some luck will find one.

You have an air box with a flat panel filter. Falkeen has a pod filter inside and hence it is shaped different to yours.

The polishing part makes it look good. Nothing else. It is a permormance mod because of its size and being mandrel bent.

The engine cover came standard on AU2 XR8s. The AU1s didn't get them.

Of course, if you mean the rocker covers, then Adam's are custom painted (in fact they are my old ones, IIRC).

"Engine cover". Why didn't I think of that? :

Thanks again guys

$800+ is a little pricey at this stage, I might do some checking around but at those $$$'s the cover is heading south on my priority list LOL

Cheers,

You should be able to get one second hand for between $100 and $200.

Look at the Shaker section for the AU Boss bonnet.
Not sure if they are available yet though ... but there's a pic under the shaker though ... looks like the factory cover ... and I think it is lighter as well.
