If you borrow $100,000 over five years you'd want to budget roughly $500 a week to pay it back on an automotive loan.

Obviously some people refinance or redraw on their home loans and stuff to get extra cash to put towards them, but if you've finished uni and you're working full time in a good paying job and living at home with your parents rent-free you could easily afford one. I'm sure that's the way a lot of these kids think these days

Thanks for your input but what interest rate are you looking at? I calculated it based on 10% at weekly repayments. If you're looking at monthly repayments it will be higher than that. I'd suggest you'd want to try and pay it back weekly or fortnightly so you could to save some $$ if you had to borrow the whole amount. If you're paying $600/week in repayments only you might be getting ripped off and should probably shop around more flappist.

You do realise that $320 is roughly 65% of $500/week and that $65k is 65% of $100,000? Can't see any sort of loose, approximate relationship there? Especially given that interest rates are probably going to be a bit lower right now which would mean the repayments might not be as high as you'd expect compared to a loan 5 years ago?

Like the majority of us, you'll find these will be snapped up 2nd hand end of lease, ex-demo cars.

Having the extra money for my family is more important to me than showing off a brand new car to the neighbors, not to mention I don't like to modify thing while in warranty.

LCT is more like GST, not like stamp duty. It's a federal government charge therefore it makes up part of the purchase of the vehicle and not the on road costs - on road costs are state based. Therefore, LCT will definitely be included in the RRP price.

Having said that.. people can say that it seems expensive for the GTS, but you're all quick to remind us that the RRP of the Falcon doesn't represent the "real price you pay" for the car and it would be no different for the GTS. Sure there first few will command a profit for dealers, but that soon dries up and they end up selling the cars with a reduced profit margin, therefore it's likely you will be picking them up for under $100k on the road.

I don’t understand why people complain about the price of this car? Seriously is there anything else on the Australian market that comes even close to offering the kind of performance kit that HSV has included in the GTS for under 100K???

People get too fixated about the 430Kw and totally forget about all the other performance goodies that this car possesses …
