firstly, Happy New Year to all!
recently, i noticed that i had a monty of coolant dissappearing from my car. i put it down to overflow from the superhot days that we have had where id driven longer and harder than normal. the temerature guage was still in the normal region though... sooooo, i got off my backside and went to Ford. they said i had a cracked radiator. i managed to talk them into giving it to me as a warranty item cause i purchased extended warranty when i got the car, and yeah. its almost paid for itself. so the moral of the story is, extended warranty is a rather good thing to have. unless you hate dealing with FoMoCo.

Man, the number of factory radiators I went through on my AUII XR6, it was amazing. But good work on not letting them get away with the extended warranty stuff.

Yeah extended warranties are well worth the extra bit of cash.
And as Parawolf said ... good stuff on standing your ground and getting them to honour it

I hear the AU radiator's are very prone to this but I've had mine since day one and just done a little over 30,000klm's and no leak's as yet, (touch wood) I did replace the fluid with tectalloy gold, but I would have thought with a vehicle sitting around most off it's life would be prone to this if the radiator's are bad to start with, so I hope mine hold's tough.

before standard factory warranty we contaced Ford and told them to fix some niggles and stuff with the car, like the air-con and some other stuff... well, upon insection, they found that under all teh carpet, it was wet. so they had to remove the whole interior, and dash to replace the heater box which was leaking. so 2 days later, its all back together, and the new heater box is faulty. so out goes the dash (again) and a new heater box put in. there would have been close to 2 grand in labour. plus parts. : there was no way i wasnt getting extended warranty on my car :

160,000KM on my AU, and not one drama with the radiator, maybe a few batches of them were lemons.
LOL @ the suckers that had to do that job under warranty, they would be spitting chips! |
