Introduced on Wednesday: 2011 Ford Focus Global Touring Car race car What is it? The new Focus is Ford’s first globally developed vehicle platform, with a high-performance ST version expected in 2012. Given Ford’s proclivity to put its sporty models on the track, racing the new Focus was inevitable, and this touring car is proof. What makes it tick? If it looks like an EcoBoost and quacks like an EcoBoost, it must be an EcoBoost, right? Except this car’s power plant will be based on the more potent ST’s engine. How much, how soon? If all goes as planned, the car’s first competition will be next year’s British Touring Car Championship. How’s it look? You’ve heard of crowd-sourcing; consider the development of this car to be a sort of race-sourcing. The automaker collaborated with private race teams to develop a plug-and-play race car capable of competing in touring-car categories around the world. I would love to see it in action and see what a ecoboost can really do

Seems as though similar difficulties have beset the World Touring Car Championship Focus program as had the World Rally Championship Fiesta program recently. Found this article http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105011 on Autosport's website. Hope the link works.
