I drove it around the car park at work, very responsive accelerator, the moment you touch the accelerator it starts moving, though its very heavy on the brakes, it needs a good amount of brake to pull it up even at car park speeds. Stereo is only tape deck, pox for something from 2001, lol. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 20-02-2013 at 05:39 PM. |

Anyone know the law in regards to red lights on non emergency vehicles? I was talking to First Intervention today, they said I should remove the light bar just in case so people don't think I'm an Ambulance.
And its in my best interests to remove the siren because if I get caught using it, I'm in ****. Everything on it works, so the lights, sirens, box body aircon (it has two aircon compressors in the engine bay), all oher sort of electrics still work. |

I was thinkimg about this today, why don't you replace the red light bar with an Amber one? To still keep on the scene of it all. You wouldn't even have to change that much if you can find just a supplier who sells the coverings?

I was thinking about that, might ask at work about an amber light bar haha.
But I've also got red lights on the guards and all around the box body |

As far as I know, no light colour other and than white and amber can face forward on any non service vehicle (unless it has heritage rego / club rego) but can have red facing backwards. Also no blue lights at all.

Got no blue lights on it, so I'm all good there.
I went into Vic Roads today and waited in line for a while, I got called up to the counter and I asked them about the Sierra, they said they couldn't tell me the law with the red lights, and that the person doing the roadworthy would decide... I was talking to one of my work mates who was actually building these things through the 90s/2000s and he said I should just swap the red lens covers to orange ones, problem is I have to find some. |

Spoke to my trusted local mechanic today, said he has to see the car first to know what I'm talking about.
Thinking I'll just remove the light bar and paint the red lens covers black and disconnect the siren. |
