I presume a lot of people have seen that ad on TV for a magic paint scratch repair pen: just use it over the scrath and bingo - job done.
Has anyone actually used one? Does it work like it does on TV? What are the drawbacks of using it, if any? Does it work for stone chips and similar? Cheers! |

There was some talk about the pen on the ad being a simple white paint pen, filmed then reversed the footage, instant 'scratch' remover.....

Just a tip, if you want one, get one off Ebay.
On TV the damn things are nearly fifty bucks, I got mine off Ebay from a place in Melbourne for about $10 posted. Follow the directions as well...it needs to sit in the sun for a few hours to "cure". If you don't do this, or wipe off the excess as it says, it won't work properly. I've used it on our "Edge" coloured G6E a few times, and it does seem to work OK. |

Just an acrylic clear, won't hide deep scratches (down to the metal etc).
Most of the scratches you fix with this, you can buff out.

There was a thread on these a while ago:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11365329 You can find them on ebay for a couple of bucks... they worked ok for me on just very light scratches in the clear after going over it with a few applications. Don't bother with any heavier damage. You could still see the scratch if you knew what to look for but they were a lot less noticeable. Overall they are worth a shot (not worth $50 though!).

as i mentioned in the other thread,
search ebay worldwide, items under $1.10 i found a seller that had them for $1 delivered, i got a few at once. they do work, on clear coats etc. and would be good if you had a patch of paint thats starting to lift, go around the inside edge of it to seal it from lifting any further etc. you can build up the coat quite a bit, with a few applications. a couple of links- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fix-Pro-C...item3ccb966964 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wholesale...item4d05d4f86e

Work but I have scratches that after a few washes show up again I brought mine through deal extreme for a few dollars.

only works on scratches in the clear coat , once it is through the colour it is useless. it just fills the scratch with clear

Got them at work (Autobarn) for $29.99 at the moment. We do sell a lot of them but I havent used one yet. Correct though that it does just fill the scratches with clear coat.

the people in the ad put too much pressure on the pen when running it along the scratch.
the pens do need a decent shake for a while before using too, the liquid settles. and being uv cured, it needs decent/direct sunlight to help it cure. i have fixed about 60 scratches with one of mine so for, for $1 it think they are great...
