Default one- piece propeller shaft for Mk 2 Escort

Hi All,

I'm doing up a "wish list" of stuff I want to do to my Mk 2 Escort, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever fitted a one- piece propeller shaft to a 2- litre Escort before? If so, are there any from other makes of car that fit, or is it something I'd have to get made up by a transmission specialist? Does it affect anything else, such as the distance the car can be lowered before running into legal/ roadworthy problems? And does it provide any real advantage over the normal 2- piece prop shaft that came with the car, besides eliminating one more joint where things can go wrong?

Any info or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan.

One piece out f an Escort van fits straight in. Been running one in the RS2000 since 1990 with no ill effects

Thanks, JimStone. Good to know it's something I can get from a wreckers easily enough.
What did you have to do to get the prop. shaft cover to fit? Does that come off the van as well?

Propshaft will bolt straight in. The single piece units were originally fitted to 1600s with the same gearbox and diff. Yokes differ from auto to manual, get the one to suit your transmission.
