Trickflow and Edelbrock seem to be the common choices but for the vast majority of applications the explorer with some port work seems to do the job.

Only worthwhile upgrade over the factory intake would be the Edelbrock RPMII, assuming of course the rest of the engine is near standard. Manifolds such as the Performer 5.0 or TFS Street Burner are no improvement on what you already have... The RPMII will make more peak power, but will lag behind your current intake up to 4000rpm.

Seriously? Is the SeriesII intake manifold on the 5.0L that good? That kinda surprises me - I know the T3 ones are excellent.

Yes the 'Explorer' intake is a cast version of the tubular GT40 intake, and flows within 5cfm of it. The Performer 5.0 & Street Burner are good upgrades over the early 'HO' but you would not notice any gain over your existing intake.

The T3 intake is a great bit of gear, though a little hard to get hold of! :-)

Many a dyno session has been ruled by the gt40/explorer, especially on a 5.0 that is street driven, as bottledup said there is losses under at least 4000 with all other manifolds ive seen tested even on a stroker.

I'm running a trickflow street heat (now called street burner) on my Stroker.. With a Baby cam (blower cam) it makes 590nm@2800rpm / 300rwhp@5200rpm with a 2800rpm high stall.. Have been VERY happy with this manifold and it's 0-5500rpm rpm range makes it well suited for a mild weezor setup.. My setup still sees just under 500nm@5000rpm.. So nice flat torque curve.. But yes, there will be some losses of torque at lower rpm, but you can't have it all..

can you flip the manifold so the throttle body can face the other way on an exploder manifold?

Yes it is reversable, it is already 'flipped' when used in our falcons.

nice one, been trying to find that info for a while i thought it was looking at mustang photos. Would make intercooler piping more straight forward with a side mount supercharger and will look heaps cleaner too with the inlet facing the drivers side, battery in the tray/boot of course. Thanks bottledup.
