Default Big gap inside fuel door?

Just a quick one. The AU i just bought has a large space inside the fuel door surrounding the neck of the fuel filler. I'm used to there being some sort of facia surrounding the filler but this is just open real-estate. Is this normal for an AU or has the facia been removed for some bizarre reason? I'll try and take a pic soon but i'm sure one of you will know. Cheers.

Yeah on mine theres no trim around the filler hose either. Pretty sure I read somewhere that it's like that from factory (without a trim around the hose behind the flap).

Could be the difference between a Series 1 and 2-3?

I noticed on mine that the edges on the inside of the pressed metal (S1) were a little dodgy (sharp) and it was all sorted on the S2.

Just went outside and had a peep at the S2. Farnsy, post up a piccie so we may compare.

Unfortunately, the S1 is at work with the Mrs.

Not 100% sure but I reckon my S2 is different.

I need a close up shot.

Well I'm posting with the laptop outside, right next to the S2 SR and apart from the gas fittings, mine is the same.

It looked different from the first pic, but the close up shows that your S1 is no different from my S2.

Case closed! LOL!

My EF2 Fairmont Ghia had a large rubber ring type thing that surrounded the filler neck. Looked heaps tidier.

awesome, so the only model that got the facia was the XR8? That's Ford thinking.
