Default What is a car like this worth? Honest opinions please

I saw this car on Monday on my way home from Bathurst. It looks completely original and seems to be a daily driver. The car wasn't for sale but I didn't offer the guy any money as I didn't know where to start. I would like to own such a car.

10 grand would be a good start just by looking at the pictures.

Nice. If you are considering it, check for rust under the vinal. Obviously you wont see it, but the vinal usually bulges over rust, and you can feel with your fingers if its bad. If its been resprayed, they may have done just the panels and forgotten about the roof. Probalbly wont matter too much, but might make you rethink what you want to pay for it. My old 77 LTD had rust under the Vinal. Even considered to rip the vinal off, and paint the roof, but I think the roof was a two piece welded in the middle???????

But, something tells me he wont sell. I wouldnt.

The fact it's a Landau would instantly increase the value. They are quite rare.

I was going to say the same thing. You could drive around Melbourne for six months and be lucky to see one.

Cheers, Danny

It looks like its in great condition inside and out and very original.

It looks to me as an early landau, (later years had different hubcaps) and looks in very good condition.
You should really check for rust in a few places:- Under the vinal, around the rear windscreen and the rear 1/4 windows.

If the mechanicals, body and interior are good, than anywhere between $15,000 and $20,000.

These things are getting rarer all the time... ive seen heaps of landau's that have been stuffed by people who remove the vinal roof and throw away the gold plated badges... and being a coupe, means that panels and trim are hard to find.
The headlights are operated by a vacume tank, that only came out on LTD's and GT's, so they are worth a fair bit as well.

But, they are a very nice car to drive and make an excellent cruiser.

I think that only about 1385 were Landaus were made in total...rare as and had rear bucket seats- if you look to buy a Landau and it hasnt got the original back buckets, knock a couple of grand off it . They has lots of electric bits being a coupe LTD so check that all windows, etc are working.
I dearly want one!! :
