Default Mobile BEM/Key Programming in Perth

Hi All

Some lowlife stole the only key to my AU3.

I've since been to Ford and had a couple of keys cut (which work in the ignition and doors) but I need to get the BEM coded to the new keys.

I'd like to avoid having to tow the car to Ford to have this done as I'd have to tow the car back which would prove pretty costly.

Can anyone suggest a mobile service that can program the new keys to the BEM so I can get the car started?

Thanks in advance

I dont think it can be done without using the WDS which only Ford have.

Bugger.

I have spoken to one mobile guy who believes he can do it, but won't be able to know for certain unless he tries.

My tuner (XFT) has confirmed they can disable the Smartshield side of things, but I don't want to do this as a) I want to keep the security and b) I need to get things done like exhaust and fill/run in the transmission properly before I dyno tune the car.

I don't know about mobile guys but some auto wreckers can reprogram keys and BEM modules. They did for me when i did my dual zone conversion.

I'm interested in the answer to this question too.

When I was looking into it a while ago, I found that only Ford could do it - although that could well be something made up by Ford to make sure you go to them with your $$.

How much did Ford charge you to physically cut the key? Do you just need the VIN and proof of ownership or do they need the car for that too?

I got my new key cut and the old ones coded out of the computer by AAA Ability Locksmiths in jandakot. They took a portable machine out to the carpark to do the in-car programming, so perhaps they'd come to you for a fee or a carton?

It was $99 for a new key from there. Much cheaper than ford.

A1 Locksmiths have said they 100% can code the transponder keys to my car without the original keys, $170.

I've book in for Monday, a mechanic mate is coming over to give it a go with his computer as it says it can communicate with Ford BEMs.

My mechanic mate came over after work with his million dollar diagnostic computer, took us about 15 minutes and we successfully cleared the existing keys in the BEM and programmed the new ones.

So long as you have two new keys it's a pretty straightforward exercise.

Nice. Does your mechanic mate have a shop? Might come in handy for us Perth guys next time.
