yeah i was really supprised how it put me back in the seat for a 6 off the line, the feeling was like my car sitting at bout 3000 in 1st gear rolling then booting it, so it did make the diffrence, i dunoo how good useful its would be on say mine or an equivelant v8, but works wonders on the six

I agree from driving useless AU Auto with his 2500rpm stallie this is a top mod for the I6 which feels so much better off the line.

On the V8 its a waste of time they have 2000-2400rpm stall converters stock. This is maybe why they have the infamous torque tags in the ecu and the sixes don't.

I just took mine for a 600km drive yesterday.... this is not a mod I would consider for cars that have a higher use factor than 200-300kms a week... economy does suffer. Great fun but you do notice it reving harder on hills etc even in cruise control.

But on highway speeds.... wouldnt it still sit at the same speeds / rpm because there is still converter lock?.... or is that gone?

converter will unlock if the load excedes what is required, and this is on hills..
and would be more likely to happen with a higher stall.

i can't work out why yours is running rich useless?
or is there a genuine reason for it?

I know what the problem is.But cannot post it here.If you wish to know pm me.It is just running rich at idle. The rest feels good. But it is enough to foul the plugs and cause less than optimal ignition.

EFFalcon is 100% correct. The lockup is still there but it has its limitations. As John said, it will unlock if the load/throttle exceeds parameters.

Which can be changed in the edit :>

We were experimenting with locking the convertor all of 3rd gear, and it was.. a weird manual feeling....

Good way to kill a 1/4 mile time.. hit 3rd and watch the revs die in the *** as the converter just locks up immediatly... its bad enough as it is now :1syellow1

I will have to check my AU.. But i know with the BA, if you have it in ESS mode, and 3rd gear is selected, It will lockup right at the top end of the scale @ WOT.. however, if its in Drive, it will switch to 4th gear, and then lockup..

Let ya know tonight what my AU does

danny.

:... I have a big, shiny switch in my glovebox that allows me to do exactly the same thing. Converter lockup is a VERY simple thing to override :P
And yes, even selecting gears manually in my AU 3rd will lock up in the upper rpms.

Third gear lock up is only available in third not Drive. So as casper says on the strip use drive and power button which stops the lock up occuring too early and spoiling the run.

Third lock up is for decellerating downhill not for the strip!
