Hi guys...
the AU 6cyl 4 sp.auto has a combined radiator for the engine and transmission. I would like to separate them because I don't always want to fiddle arround with both if only one radiator needs to be replaced. So what is the best set up for an independant engine cooling system and a separate transmission cooling ? Thanks for any ideas Cheers The Moose |

Just buy your self a transmisson cooler and mount it in front of the condensor
Also if you do heavy towing etc or drive it hard you can always wire up a seperate fan which can be mounted in front of the cooler and turn it on every now and then to help it keep it cool, speacially in stop start traffic

Agreed, but I'd fit at least the HD PWR cooler - in fact, I have the HD cooler plus a standard 6 cyl cooler fitted for my V8; both bypass the radiator and are connected in series with each other (from trans to the 6 cyl cooler, then to the HD cooler so the fluid has the best possible chance of cooling down before getting back to the trans).
You won't need a seperate fan - the factory thermos come on at water temp of 92, IIRC, which is well below what you need them to come on for a transmission, and they will suck enough air to cool both the trans coolers and the radiator adequately (assuming the thermos still work, of course).
