Default fair price for my xr8???

I unfortunately have to sell my Xr8, I know this question has probably been asked here before but what's a fair price for a low mileage s2 220 with only 90k on the clock? Ive had the car advertised on carsales for 3 months and had one enquiry I have the car advertised for 15k is this a fair price??

Where are you located mate? WA prices appear to be at a premium for these.

What options, mods, auto/manual etc.?

hes in NSW... 15k seems too expensive to me. but a car is worth what someone is willing to pay...

and you only have to sell it at a price youre willing to let it go.

as above, mods/options make a bit of a difference.

Whilst a car is worth what someone is willing to pay, it's clear the price is too high, as he's not had any nibbles!

Drop the price to $12,500 and you'll have nibbles I reckon.

All the best with it.

i think start at $12000 and you might get $10500. There is so many to choose from at the moment, you can get a decent s1 for $6000 and ba xr8 for $17000.

I paid $10k for mine (165,000km on the clock, but only 85,000 on the engine).

Start at $12,888 and go from there.

Theres a big variance between AU series. Series 1s dont fetch a lot because they are still similar to EL in spec and looks are not to many peoples tastes.

Yeah $10k IMO is top dollar for a AU XR8..sorry guys. They are a damn fine car and manuals may go for a little more but 10 would be my max and it would have to be mint.

Guess it all depends on how long you want it sitting there.

Yes i know there are some differances but they are not worth $9000 above a s1 thats why i suggesting finding a middle ground on price. You have to price them well if you want to sell with so many options avalable on the market like a ba v8 fairmont for $12000 otherwise it will still be in your hands costing you more money.

Thanks for everyones input, letting it go for $12k or $10k seems to be giving this car away its just so much better than that, for that kind of money I cant even get in to a corolla or lancer of the same age seems pointless, oh well will keep on carsales and may drop to 14k or 13k, will keep everyone posted, thanks everyone for your opinions.

Im the same. Selling the car for 10k would be a waste and I would rather just keep the thing

Well at the end of the day its what the market is asking, no one is forcing you to sell it just dont complain if you dont. Have a look a the price of BA GT's now, advertised at $25k so you can knock a couple of k's for a sale....$10k is a fair price for these cars, they are aging and will need money spent.

I know what you guys mean, if I was to sell my AU id be lucky to get $4k...even with my SVI LPG. So there is no way I can get a better daily than that for that price...so Ill keep it until it becomes to $$$ to maintain.

10k is all youll get if your lucky.
The P plate V8 market is no longer so that immediately rules out the younger market that would have previously looked at it - the very same market that drove up the prices of older V8's.
Those that are coming off their P's and are looking for their first V8 arent at all interested in a 10 year old car, especially an Au when there are BA's, VZ's, FPV's and HSV's to consider.
Time to face up to reality and realise that there is a very limited market for an AU XR8 these days and basically giving them away is what it takes to get rid of them.

Read all the other recent threads and you will get an idea of what it's worth, there's been a lot of discussion recently as to value's of AU XR8's.

Couldn't have said it better. I recently sold a fully optioned LS1 Calais, and instead of being innundated with calls from teenagers (a good thing?), I had barely a nibble.

By the time the P plater can drive a V8, they are more cashed up and want something modern and up to date, not an old AU. That leaves the old V8's to the cash strapped - not exactly a great demographic to be selling to.

Well i gotta agree, i realy think u could sell a xr6 AU faster than a XR8. even at same price i reakon the xr6 would sell faster and get more hits, just because there is small market for cars over 5 years old with the exeption for P platers.

I only have a SII forte manual sedan. Cost me $2000 with 180 000 kms on the clock. But if some1 told me to pick between a xr6 and xr8 id take the xr6 for 2 reasons, Main reason is cause i cant drive xr8, and because the price of fuel these days is crazy.

Your best chance is to advertise it without a price, see what offers u can get and maybee u can get a price that way.

Im not expecting much interest for mine, 9 year old V8s truly are a narrow market. Especially with those damn p-plate laws. If you want a sale, the best you can do is undercut the competition. Offer more for less.

Hope the OP has luck with the sale - for my 2c worth a low milage, looked after series 2 XR8 should sell for $11 -12K, if it can't sell for that price you may as well keep it rather than give it away.

Main reason for keeping mine - too good a car to trade in for a GT, 80k, I own it outright from new and intend on keeping it.

Sold my pristine Silver AU 2 220kw auto, 114,000km full bodykit & full momo, 12 months ago $12,750. Had no interest for 4 weeks, and then all of a sudden had 3 buyers throwing cash in my face. The used car market is funny that way, a lot of luck involved. At the end of the day regardles how well off people tell you they are, there arent that many people walking around with $10+k on them. Especially for a 10 yr old car. You just have to ride it out and wait for the enthusiasts to come out of the woodwork.
