Question Trans fluid in t5?

Just stuffin around today trying to make my t5 howl less and last longer, i found that my 5 speed takes dexron II (acording to the owners manual) instead of gear oil. Is this common with many manual transmissions? Anybody else not know this or have i had my head buried in the ground again?

I reccon someone else didnt know because the colour of the oil was a bit suspect!

Check the manual again, you'll probably find as well as the dextron II you'll need an oil additive (Lubrizol 7906)
Ford ran the trans fluid and additive for better shift feel.

I`m not sure if all the manual gear boxs use the same oil i no from ea to ed they use DEX 3 not sure about the ef and el boxs, i`ve always used the Dex 3 oil and never used an addictive.

Personally I think fully synthetic is worth spending extra on, I'd only use Castrol Transmax Z. Good fluid is cheaper than gearboxes.
