Have a look at my engine build thread in my sig. Cam and engine work will totally depend on how deep your pockets are. For 1K that will buy you a cam and thats about it. Cams are usually around the 300 to 500 mark depending on what brand you get. To add to the cam you will need a new timing chain set, new gasket set plus a few other things. Read a few threads in the Windsor section and make your mind up from there.
For 1k i would look at a set of extractors and try and get a flash tune done on the car.

Well i got my pacies yesterday........then....i drove out of the work shop and a massive vibration.... i have a broken left engine mount!!! So its hard to notice any difference at the moment with the massive virbations. The left hand extractors are leaning on the cross member??? (I think that wat it was?)
Anyways that cant get fixed till saturday morning now! so i vibrating my way to work every day for the next couple of days.....Theres always some problem hey lol

Ive been quoted $297 fitted for the mount. Does that sound right??

It might not be the engine mount. When i got my pacemakers installed the tri y designt rubs on the passenger side sway bar mount. If you get your exhaust guy to bend them a little u will be fine. this is a common fault with them. My mechanic went back to pacemaker in SA and they said they know about it, but its because they were originally modeled on the AU 1 which has different mount. Pacemakers 'official' fix for this is to remove the bolt that it rubs on and dab a bit of weld onto it. We wernt happy with this, so the mechanic got a smaller head profile bolt and installed that along with bending the pipe a small bit.
I would get under there and check it all before you pay out $$$ on a new engine mount.

I got under there with the exhaust mob. The extractor isnt really rubbing, its more sitting on it. There is also ALOT of movement wen the lifted the motor with a crobar. I also noticed it a bit before when i floored it in 1st the gear leaver moved with the revs one way. I had replaced the right one bout 20,000k ago so left is probably due.

Cheers Frank
