www.shiftkits.com.au has adjustable shift kits for $115, just wondering if anyone has had experiance with these kinds of shift kits?
"How does it work ? The module alters the signal the engine / transmission control unit provides to the transmission to control the line pressure. By slightly increasing the line pressure, the transmission changes harder from one gear to the next. This not only reduces heat generated within the clutches and bands in the transmission, but also will increase transmission lift and reduce wear." Ive never had any experiance with tranny mods, anyone clued in on it?

I had a 2 stage kit on my EB XR8. Came with instructions. Fitted it on 1/2 hour which is ample time for a noob like me.
Stage 1 was was the best stage. You could drive like normal, it would feel firm between shifts but when booting it off the lights, I would often get 2nd gear chirpies. Solid shifts. Stage 2 was harder and frankly it wasnt much better than stage 2. It felt more harsher on the driveline than stage 1. Harder shifts. Many here will say you can make your own for about $10 but if you dont have an electrical mind like me, spending up to get one of these kits is the next best thing. Plus you can switch it back to OEM mode at any time for lazy shifts all day long. HTH

Had the Stage 1 kit when I had an auto Forte. You solder in 3 wires to the ECU wiring. Its like being kicked in the back when it changes gears. Quite good fun With the adjustable kits, the hardest shift setting is the same hardness as the stage 1 kit.

if you put a stage 1 shift kit in, does it always shift hard even when driving gently or does it only shift hard when you drive hard?

it will at its full strength under WOT. Otherwise its just mildly firm. Put it this way, I probably would turn it off in peak hour traffic as going from 1st to 2nd would be annoying.
