Something's wrong here?? :togo: "I reckon the ZF six speed gearbox currently employed by Ford, is one of the smoothest and quickest shifting transmissions on the market today. But while that may be true, the shift time between ratios is still around 350 milliseconds. That’s slow compared to the 8 milliseconds on the upshift with the twin-clutch unit! That’s right; Ford’s new PowerShift is a lot quicker than Ferrari’s current 599 supercar, which is near enough to 100 milliseconds. It’s even faster than a current Formula One car."

Hopefully Jetrag get it right, the box not only makes the car quicker if required, it increases fuel efficiency. The only downside is it costs a fortune to repair. |

Nah they have been using the Magnetti Marelli units for some time, similar to the Selespeed in the Alfa Romeo. |

How long until manual gearboxes are no longer offered in new cars with all this whiz bang technology around? That would suck :(

If you want to potter around, stick it in D. If you want to take her to the track, you've got a manual box without the need to depress a clutch. Having a 3rd pedal is highly overrated when it comes to the joy of driving a car. |

I agree. Since it's been about six years since I've owned an auto (not that it was much: XF; T35 : ) I'd have to confess that my left-foot braking skills have been all but lost. Before I put a single-rail : into the XF I became quite good at LFBing. 'Slike driving a oversize go-kart. (XF's low centre of gravity helped, too) Trail-braking becomes a second-nature thing if your right foot doesn't need to leave the accelerator. You quickly learn how to help settle the car into corners. (Though I never had enough grunt to fully exploit the benefits : )

Are you Serios! where do you think All the Fiesta's, Focii' Come from. Even the New Mondeo, Fords Kinetic(sp?) design? AS posted above ford have released a BOMB load of performance cars that AUS can only dream of. In order of appearence above: The True FORD GT40 Race car. It was purposfully designed to win Lemans The Ford RS200 4x4 with a SHAT load of power from a 2ltr Turbo engine. The Formula Ford Race Car. The Escort Cosworth with 4x4 and a Turboed 2ltr Cosworth Engine. The Ford Sierra Cosworth, once again a 2ltr Turbo Cosworth Engine. These even raced at bathurst and won but where TECHNICALLY Disqualified because of some obsurd rule. These things BEAT the Falcons with V8s around the track, with only a 4pot and a turbo. The Ford Escort RS2000 which was one of the Biggest Hits for FORDs small car industry in the WORLD!. There are so many enthusiats around these days for these small cars. In Euro land they have the MK1 Focus RS - FWD 2ltr turbo Zetec engine with 212 hp. There have been 300+ hp versioins of these. Not to mention - THE ALL NEW FOCUS RS with (roughly) 300 HP from a 2.5ltr turbo 5cly engine and FWD with an Electronic LSD. Also Guys please note that the POWER shift has not been introduced to any performance models just yet. I think its beeing launched with the TDI focus Model First to promote Fuel Econ.
