The problem in Queensland is the State Laws. Not the Police. I have experience this first hand. I had a brand new Subaru WRX parked in Carport, with my friends Holden Gemini parked across the driveway behihnd it.

A drunk driver coming up the street, swerved and to avoid a median strip and lost control, hitting our cars. The driver then reversed out of my carport, as we ran outside. I saw the driver, even got to yell profanity at him as he drove off. We got the rego, so we thought we were ok.

Called the police, to be informed that it was shift change time. We then a called a good friend who worked at the local Police station. She told us she was next on duty and would arrive straight after clocking on. She actually stopped in on her way to work.

As she was the attending officer, it was her case. The problems associated with happened most officers would have stopped soon after they started, but as we friends, she continued past what she should have.

She found that the car in question was taken from the owner in Melbourne by
his ex. The car was being driven around by her and the new deadbeat she had shacked up with. The driver, upon being questioned said he was too drunk to remember anything from the night. The woman went to hospital that night with injuries from the accident, and couldn't remember how she got them, because of being too drunk and stoned.

Because they couldn't remember driving drunk, under Queensland (Alleged) Law nothing could be done. These a-holes got away with it, and I lost my no claim bonus. And I had someone doing everything possible under the law on my behalf, and I couldn't do anything. I couldn't even get an opportunity to identify the people responsible.

However, if I had been able to get these people physically out of the car, I probably would have been charged with assault. In Queensland, if your a victim, and you see the person responsible, take the law into your own hands. Its the only justice you will get. Even then, you should only get a warning.

Commonhoar(s)e Drivers........ this is not to say all are bad/wreckless drivers, but.... it certainly does seem to me (my opinion) that more drivers of this make/model have a tendency to, follow too closely, drive to intimidate fellow road users, fail to indicate, overtake recklessly, and more, as I say not all,

one of me best mates has an ss crewman, which I often hassle him about having 8 cylinders that you have listen to hear hehe!!,

& the piece of scum in question needs to be thrown too some large hungry dogs, we dont need to pay for his time playing playstation/watching tv, & trying not to bend over in the shower........

Saw a very similar thing at Bathurst last year. I think it was on the friday around lunch time, we had left the track to go have a feed. Anyway we saw a guy trying to reverse 45 degree park into a spot between 2 other cars. He hit a new Hilux twice on the corner of the bumper. So then he pulled out and started over, this time he started to reverse back into the spot on the wrong side of the Hilux which was occupied already. He came terribly close to hitting it and people stated beeping and yelling. He stopped pulled out and drove off up the street. We were about the 3rd car in the line waiting to go through so we didn't get a look at his plates, there was a million people around though so surely someone got it. He had to be drunk it was that bad. Hopefully the cops have his orange panel van by now.

OK and with that should we begin the countdown until this thread is closed for CommyDore bashing?

10, 9, 8, 7, 6...
I'd had better not get shut. I saw a commodore driver cause and accident and drive off - thats factual. I'm not looking to bash the make of car, just the persons driving abilities.

The thread name would seem to indicate otherwise. I'm certain there's just as many imbeciles driving Fords, Toyotas, Nissans etc, this apparent consensus that all Commodore drivers are accident causing bogans seems a bit unfounded.

Not at all...everything I have said has indicated that the police have been nothing but helpful. If other peoples posts have been cop bashing, delete their posts by all means, but i'd be upset if this thread was deleted.

I'm simply upset at the stupidity and recklessness of this driver. Apologies if the thread title has been misconstrued as commodore bashing, but since I don't know the guys name, its calling him a commodore driver seems fair enough.

Mods can change it to "idiot driver alert" if they feel necessary

Ok I wrote the title perhaps drawing some hasty conclussions, but no where in the body of my thread have I mentioned anything about it being a "typical commodore driver". I even said I feel awful for the owner of the other car, a COMMODORE.

Everyone take a chill pill...

My Fiancee was merged into on the highway - We had plates - Colour - Model and Make -

Cops still wouldn't do anything - I can't exactly remember as it was a while ago but it was something to do with the expense of the damage - Also they reckoned they had to wait for an insurance claim to be made - It was too much hassle
