I have an AU Futura taht has an aircon problem.
The aicon compresser shuts down for about 5 minutes and blows warm air until the compressor restarts. The problem seems to be worse when the engine is under load as in going up hills or sitting on 110klm, which the aircon shuts down and won't restart. It has been re-gassed but it will not fix the problem. The aicon mech said I am imagining things. any ideas? |

check for a leak...
you are out of gas... mind did exactly the same thing you mentioned... but had a slow leak.. after regassing it would work perfectly... for about 3 or 4 days.. then would start doing the same thing... does the pipe the runs along the passenger side at the top of the engine bay freeze up?.. mine was doing that too.. would do it when low on gas... i am getting mine fixed tomorrow.. finally... i'd be going to a different air con dude.. if it's leaking gas that fast.. he should be able to tell... use the dye and find out where the leak is... |

Hi stokesy
mine is doing the exact same! also, turning off the car and turning it back on again makes the compressor kick in again. I can do this at 110kmh without re-cranking cos im on LPG. (hooray!) Also mine drops one little drop of the lovely irridescent green crap (dye) a week. Compressor ticks a little bit too Back when i was a taxi mechanic, i could tell you how long the a/c compressor had in it by how loud the ticking was! Isn't the pipe supposed to freeze up? i thought that was it working effectively? I could be wrong.

yeah.. i could make my compressor kick in again too if i turned the car off.. but wouldn't do much..
and that pipe isn't meant to freeze up.. it's meant to get cold.. and will get water droplets on it.. (condensation) but should not ice up and freeze.... |
