Woosha... have you ever considered wiring in another lighter socket that can be hidden behind the glove box? Behind the glove box makes it easily accessable and out of sight ... if you also want to be able to turn it on and off by removing the plug, then why not put an override switch somewhere... you can get micro switch that you can hide easily :P

I reall like the look of the mount, I was loooking everywhere for that one!

Found it on ebay for 90$, which I personally think is abit of a rip off.

Still I have mine column mounted :

They are the DRiFT black light guages, air fuel and volt., cost me I think it was 90$ for the volt, and 110ish for the air fuel. Abit ricer but looks great at night!

its not a ripoff mate
$90 pays for a PLASTIC (good quality thick stuff too)
guage holder that is moulded to the spot perfectly

plus costs of R&D to make the thing (moulds dont make them selves)

and its also made by a forum member which is awesome! and its not hangin all in your vision illegal like

The reason I got the centre console pod is because it is legal ... all gauges must be below the upper most level of the steering wheel ... anything higher is illegal ... well ... that's in NSW anyway.

Ive always thought this was the law as well, that you cant have anything above the dash as it can become dangerous in a crash. Does anyone know if this is also the go in Vic as well? Ive been under the impression it has.

Im interested to know if people who would get fined for have gauges on the pillar, what would be the go for all the folks the 'navman' type devices? You find most of them attached to the windscreen in a similar position above the dash, would that also be illegal or do they get away with it?

i think its because the navman is a movable object

where as a guage is rather solidly mounted

im pretty sure in all states its illegal to mount anything above the highest part of the dash

i also think its crap because taxi's have all their equipment on top of the dash too
and they have more crashes than everyone LOL

I'd only get gauges like that if I had a turbo or a work engine, otherwise I don't see the need.

I was thinking the same thing, due to a navman being able to detach and removed rather than a fixed object.

Thats does raise a good point, what about taxi's? Oh well i guess if your going to do it just hope you dont get harrased by the boys in blue lol..
