Default Few Q's on my AU

Greetings,

In the next Few weeks my daily will be back on the road and the AU will come off. I need to address a few problems. For those of you who dont know I have a AUII GHIA (non IRS) with a 347 stroker

I'm Just after some advice..

1. My diff is making not nice noises, apart from whining, when i am turning sharply (and when reversing) i get a kind of "squeeking" noice, i cant really explain it much better then that, it kinda squeeks...stops...then squeeks again. As if its doing it at a certain point each time the wheels turn. As its a stock diff i am worried that it's possibly the axles, would this be the case? Also my LSD is dead and now only single spinning, would i be better off buying a full diff (XR8 non IRS?) and taking my gears (3.7's) and putting then into a new diff? Or rebuild the one i have?

Once again i have steering issues, previously i had issues with a knocking in the front end, turned out to be a loose sway bar. This time i have a similar knocking noise when turning hard into corners, it only seems to do it when turning left. What could this be? I also have issues with a virbrating when turning but i have been told thats just air in the lines.. correct?

My gearbox was rebuilt 10 000k's ago, but as its sitting behind a 347 stroker I dont trust it too much. Its stock with a 2900 high stall and big cooler, i would like to beef up the internals, what's it gonna set me back to get it beefed up with kevlar clutches etc?

I also have what seems to be a constant lifter tick, should i just take them out and inspect them? On top of this I have a knocking on startup, lasts about 25seconds, or until oil pressure builds, should i be at all worried?

And one more quick Q, is there any way of disabling the DTE warning beep on startup? With a stroker and around town economy of about 23L/100 when i am over a 1/4 of a tank it will still beep, lol. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Squeaking may be handbrake
All XR8's had IRS IIRC
Gearbox would be 3-3.5k I think
Try a Z89a oil filter instead of the Z9, stubby version of the Z9 it is. Fixed my knock.
If you find a way to turn off that beeping let me know. :evil3:

The beeping only comes on when it calculates you have 80km or less to go.

THanks for the replies so far..

I am aware that it only comes on with 80km or less to go, but with shocking fuel economy it comes on before my car gets to 1/4 of a tank as it "calculates" that i only have 80km or less to drive

Just hit the reset button below the DTE readout. Will shut it up til you have 60km to go. Don't think you can really disable it.

I've wondered about this a bit lately. Why did you go the stubby filter?

Firstly because it is the specified one for the AUII XR8 w/oil cooler. I was using the Z9 but had a slight rattle at start up so it was suggested to me to try the stubby Z89a as it builds oil pressure quicker. Tried it, it worked and I have continued using them. For what it's worth I only ever use Purolater or Fram oil filters.
