Default Ford Discovers That Making Better Cars Costs Them Less Money!

"The numbers that we're targeting, probably another $200 to $300 million, would be in line, certainly in line with the substantial improvement we made this year," said Ford's Vice President, Bennie Fowler.

Improved quality is a key portion of Ford's North American turnaround plan. According to The Detroit News, the automaker has seen 11 consecutive years of U.S. market share declines.

Ford had four of the top ten brands in J.D. Power & Associates' annual initial-quality survey released in June.

The savings are currently being used to off-set Ford's $12.6 billion shortfall last year, but will soon be used to develop future models.

Interesting they have only discovered this after 100+ years making cars. I think now all that is needed is for Ford of AU to look at doing this. The quality of the cars made here is pretty horrid at best. Maybe Ford should also hold suppliers liable for quality defects found in parts supplied.

Wonder how they achieve 'quality', by some sort of verifiable rating system, or an education system for dealer staff so that fewer cars are fixed when they are faulty.

They all do that.
What do you expect for $x
It's not a BMW is it?
A Holden would be worse.
Bring it in next week.
We couldn't find anything wrong.
No fault codes.
Within specifications for the mileage.
That's fair wear and tear, not covered by warranty.
That's driver abuse, not covered by warranty.
You expect some deterioration with a car like this.
They all do that.

Next they might learn that only appointing quality franchisees and doing and spending whatever it takes to get rid of the bad ones (irrespective of unit sales they make) dramatically improves customer satisfaction and brand retention figures...

oh its simple,
Just accept fewer warranty claims and offer bonuses to dealers with the least amount of warranty claims. oh wait maybe they already do this???

Curses. If only I'd waited two years I wouldn't have been forced to take mine back to the dealer so many times I've worn out the road between my house and the dealership.
