Default Melbourne Ford Escort

Hey guys i've just bought a 1979 Escort 4 Door and it needs a bit of work. I need some local knowledge. Does anyone know the best place to get work done on them? I need to re build the diff and get some crank shaft seals and timing belt done.

Cheers Guys!

These are pretty easy jobs for any competent mechanic. Check the rear wheel bearings before getting your diff rebuilt. The bearings are often the source of rear end noise as they easily get warped thru axel tramp.

Yes, its a quite common occurrance on Escorts if they have been parked up for some time. The 2lt needs regular oil and water changes and should be started at least once a week if stored. Head gaskets are a simple job, just remember to change the timing belt at the same time.

Yeah definately, i was thinking about ripping my engine out and putting a 2.0l DOHC cortina or escort engine. From my understanding they're pretty much identical anyways. Just got to find one really.
