Speedo sender in the transmission on it's way out by the sounds of it.
I had an issue with mine when I'd start it and in P my speedo would go to 20km/h and fluctuate a bit ... handbrake on ... not moving ... was getting the handbrake beep warning from the cluster as well.

After connecting up to the Scantool I was getting P1358 ... which is something to do with the speed sensor in the auto.

Well ... that's what I came across anyway.
It sounds very similar to your issue.

Mine done that for about 2 weeks after I bought it, then it just stopped doing it.
Give it time, it may just stop like mine.

Mine's done it a couple of times too, not for a while though, so if you find out what it is let me know!

Mine used to jump up when I was going from P to D, it hasn't done it in a while. But now I let the gearbox go into N before switching through R and D. Still would like to know how to fix it....

I had this periodically in the S1 wagon. It stopped though and hasn't done it in a long time.

I suspect it will stop in a bit. Just a glitch in the Matrix! LOL!

Mine does it from time to time too - it's a sign that the electrical connectors to the gearbox need a shot of WD40/RP7/start ya bastard to clean up the contacts.

My original AU1 wagon company car did this also on several occasions, turned out it was the throttle position sensor. This got changed through warranty, and the problem never re-occured (pity about the diff I blew in it though.......)
