Kyro: lol nope, sorry dude. a basic private pilots licence will cost that. a Commercial pilots licence costs closer to $30,000 - $40,000 depending on the school. I'm doing the commercial course, meaining I get it all in one hit, IFR, Night, Retrac, CSU, Multi engine, plus a job at the end :-)

I still cry everytime i swipe the card to pay for the $1,000 odd flight

So in other words, yes you will have to stay on your p's until feb, but on a QLD licence, and the licences up here are heaps better, no car restrictions, no speed restrictions, dont have to display p plates.

Up here you can just get a five year licence on your p's, and it just says how long it is a provisional, and how long it is a full licence. The only problem with that is that your NSW has to have an issue date, which it doesnt, so they wont do it. However i thought about it after i left and had my licence and tought maybe if you offered to hand in your licence for a day they could do the check and give you your full licence, its worth a try.

Try and get your licence before july 1 though, as a whole heap of new laws are coming in then.

Hope that all helps,

Mk II
Thank you mate. That does help.

I just wasn't sure.;)
