IMO viscosity is ok, don't really know the product though.

Hope the ankle heals up ok!

Should be ok! 15/40 is recommended for the V8, 10/30 for the I6, however this oil is too thin for the I6. Ford was going for extra economy.

see what others think, but I'm pretty sure others use similar viscosities with no dramas. I use Penrite HPR 10 Gas in both my AU's (they are on gas), which has the viscosity of 10/50.

I'm sure others will give you their opinion and you can go from there!

Cheers,

GK

Was running Penzoil 10/30 in the AU, now running penzoil 15/40 which has proven to be much better....I agree with GK the 10/30 is too thin.

have you had the car from new? the most common thing I find with older second hand cars blowing smoke is from the previous owner/owners not servicing it regularly, i run magnatec in mine, 10w40 and i don't get smoke, although i have only done 1 oil change since i got the car. i don't know what ford put in it before i bought it...it didn't smoke, but it burnt thru it on a long trip like anything

The Shell Helix I last used is 5w40.
I believe the Mobil is the same.

Genine Ford oil from motor traders is 15w/40. However is very expensive for oil, i try and use penrite for my cars, but if some one wants to skimp on price for a service i'll use geniune holden 15W/40, its the same viscosity and cheaper than most oils with trade discount.

i use HPR 10.

Never been happier. I need a new rocker cover gasket though, but thats a seperate issue.

Used to use Engine Armour, for over a year, was very happy until they stopped making their 6L bonus bottles, but too thin an oil, especially in the heat.

Now i use HPR 10, semi synthetic, is bewdiful. Just did the 2000km Bris>syd and back no worries.. feels meatier

I use Penrite HPR15 which is 15W 60 in the V8 and would be good in the I6 too if you've done a few kms.

Correct, same experience here. Ran my AU XR6 until 84k and the engine sounds and feels like new. 10w-30 is the reccomended oil for AU 6's.
