Thought Ford doesn't recommend you use E10 in Fiestas.

Nope, they say you can use it, but I wouldn't. The test car I drove had E10 in it and that was horrible, puts the revvy little engine into a lifeless ping educed coma.

I know someone in Toowoomba that only uses E10 in their Fiesta, again, it just feels wrong. 95 RON or 98 RON for me, not to mention the engine was made to suit the Euro climate, where 95 RON is the norm.

Fair enough, must be mixing it up with the fiesta. The only E10 I run is the 95 ron stuff. The Falcon runs better on that then regular 91ron fuel.

We have a Shell (2 actually that sit opposite each other in Newcastle) that seem to have their Unleaded e10 bowsers 'out of order' more often than not! I asked one day why this was the case... the reply says it all "Oh the filters keep getting blocked".

Steer clear of this stuff. The only type I use (and yes I don't have a small Ford, used to have the 99 Laser which ran on it fine) is the United 95RON e10. Seems to be allot better. Still not comparable to 98RON in its $ per km.

Funnily enough the company I work for won't allow me to put Ethonol in my work car (FG Falcon). Another note, the maximum Ethonol percentage in Europe is a mere 5%, so that makes the case for E10 in a Fiesta even less sound IMO.

FG gets alot better fuel economy over the 95 E10 (from personal experience) but feels down on power. Both my B-series give similar mileage but the 95 made the car go harder (B-series did a combined 220,000k plus on E-10).

In my books, there is absolutely no positive to Ethanol in Fuel. To go the same distance more of it has to burnt meaning the fact that is it cheaper becomes irrelevant, and it can make the car run like a dog and ruin the various rubbers seals and other components.

Petrol stations and governments should drop the idea of rolling in E10 to replace 91ron. Its a total waste of time. Will forever refuse to run my car on it. I have tried 91 by itself in my fiesta, and ran terribly... awful. so it will only ever be 95 or 98 for me.

There is a few upsides to Ethanol in fuel, have a look into E85 and high performance engines. A lot of drag and circuit cars are switching to E85 now and making big power. E85 is a more specialised and thus expensive fuel than whats available at servos though.

In everyday cars though there is no way I'd used it. Too many stories of dead fuel pumps and clogged injectors/filters

i totally agree with everything you have said. V8 supercars for example who have made the switch to Ethanol, have seen power increases. but everyday use, it doesnt really work.

WS is E10 compatible, (i never put e10 in my zetec though), but I don't think WP would even like regular 91Ron. I thought minimum for WQ /WP is 95 Ron.

i have tried 91 in my WP... it really really runs badly on it, idles roughly, pings alot, the magical 3500 - 4000 rpm where all the torque would come in no longer existed, and alot more noise. however economy stayed the same.

never went back to 91.....

According the my old WP Fiesta owners manual, the WP was 91RON comparable.

Yes, it is 95 recomended, 91 compatible but using 91 will increase engine noise, reduce performance and increase fuel consumption.
