Lets say it takes 3 - 4 seconds to do that menouvre, at the same time you have your clutch in to do that........ wouldnt you think to just push your clutch in for 3 seconds to save wear and tear on having to unnesesary wear on the gear box?

Hopefully, the stories about Ford service techs are not true in this case because if they say we shouldn't have to do it then it should be fixable ...

Will look forward to what they can do for you and I'll see what they can sort out at our service tomorrow.

Id hate to see how slow your gear shifts are. The process is alot quicker than 3 seconds.

The gearbox would get no wear and tear from those movements

Another suggestion is, if the car is parked and you have to reverse out of your spot, select reverse prior to starting the car. No crunch then.

Well, they dumped the gearbox oil and refilled it.

Gotta say, it is better.

I got the oil and filter change as well (supplied a fully synthetic I bought).

I was rather surprised how carbonised the old oil was after just 3,000km.

Was suggested the fuel economy should improve (seemed to be running rich) - they did the usual safety check, checked the ECU and error codes - all good.

Didn't apply the USB update - they said it already had the update done. Maybe it came in the software update the Germans emailed over.

They did a pretty good job I must admit. Goes against the horror stories that seemed to be around about Ford Service Depts.

I declined the wash and vacuum ofcourse.

All done in an hour and a half.

Redline MT90 was used. Not sure what was in there before, the Ford guys didn't know either.

Oh and they didn't know what to do about the carpet in the footwell. They were going to screw it to the rubber firewall lining but I told them not to bother.

Got home and I used some 3M industrial strength double sided tape (wiped both surfaces with meths) and stuck it down with that.

We walked up to the dealers yard while we were waiting- sheesh they have a few Fiestas on the yard. We counted 6 incl white, black, vision, silver and 2 of them were Zetecs !

That blue dash is a bit of an eyeful and I still can't get used to the purple dash either.

Kinda like the funky seat design in the LX's though

I get the same thing with our WQ LX 1.6 manual.
I'd go with waiting for 3 seconds. Works for me - my fiancee just slams it :S
When we told Ford about it, they told us all manual Fiestas do it.
