Default Fiesta XR4 dash changeover

Well after a late night out with the soldering iron, and an extremely sore back, I finished up doing my mates XR4 dash changeover. We got talking one day and I showed him the blue dash I had in my car, and the second he saw them he said he wanted some. But blue was too common for him, so he wanted a red dash. The parts were ordered, and this is the end product: (the pictures don't show the colour as good as it actually is. I'll try and take some better photos when I get the opportunity)

Let me know what you guys think :

Looks Great.reminds me of my mothers Mazda 6. it would look awsome to have the dials red and the digital screen blue

PM BlackLS. He does this sort of thing too (inspired me to do it). He lives in Sydney so speak to him about doing it.

Each to their own. He said he didn't want the headlight indicator to be red, so I left it that way. Personally I wouldn't go red, blue looks a hell of a lot better, but everyone has their own opinion.

I'll be taking next year off uni to work full time next year, but am planning on travelling around Australia at some point, maybe mid-year. During which time, I'll probably be driving up from Melbourne, through South Australia, up through NT, across the top of Queensland, then down through Brisbane and Sydney. So if anybody wants this done, let me know before I start travelling, and we'll meet up in respective cities and get the work done!

It's pretty easy getting the cluster out, but it's another matter entirely getting the dash apart! It's hard to explain, but it's a pain in the bum to get the covers off the PCB. And yeah, there's about 20 LEDs soldered onto the PCB. SMD ones too, so they measure up about 3mm x 3mm. Need a fine tipped, temperature controlled soldering iron and a steady hand. You won't be able to just install a dimmer control though. You'd need to buy an entirely new headlight switch and hope that the dimming control is already implemented into the system. If it's not, then it would be extremely difficult to install, and wouldn't be worth the time and effort.
