hey guys, this has been pondering in my mind for quite some time. ive been told that its just normal but id thought id ask anyway. when i A) do a burnout B) take of on an incline quickly and my wheels spin my whole steering wheel shudders and shakes is sounds like my front wheels are bouncing up and down while trying to spin. is this standard in front wheel drice cars or should i suspect it to be a problem.

axle tramp, go get stiffer front springs and shocks, that should fix your problem.

There is nothing wrong with the car, but there will be so long as you keep letting it axle tramp everywhere, so be careful.. |

Its axle tramp. Take off line a normal person and it won't happen.

A good analogy (is that how you spell it??) is that front wheel drive car is like a car that uses the rear wheels to do most of the braking effort (whereas everyone knows that it is optimum to use the front wheels for a larger proportion of braking effort as that is where the weight, and thus traction, is held.) Maybe I'm getting old, but the point of spinning the wheels or doing a burnout in a FWD is pretty much lost on me these days. Sure, I don't mind giving the car some stick, but traffic light drags seem a little pointless, let alone in a Fez.

The only constructive drag i would enter into would be through some very windy terrain.. in which point the fez does have an advatage on some of the larger vehicles.. but off the lights i wouldnt waste my petrol.. speaking of which $1.10 for unleaded today isnt too bad..

not that i continously do burnouts but wheneveri do try i get shudder. and when ever im at the lights and the wheels spin its mostly due to it has been raining. but still it has been bothering me that the steering wheel shudders. but now i know thats its normal. im at ease.

It just makes you look like a tosser trying to do a burnout when clearly a, the car dosnt have enough power and b, your not all that good at doing one.
Get a 4WD car and just never do one, thats much more fun. |

tramp is the point between spin and grip it is gripping and lifting the wheel of the ground if you want to do a skid grit your teeth and give some more revs before you pop the clutch |

How did you come to the conclusion that FWD use a rear based brake bias? They certanly don't.
Yep its all weight transfer, thats why a FWD is slower off the line as it can't get traction. Also why FWD drag cars use wheely bars that are nearly always in contact with the ground so to stop the weight transfer. While a RWD uses them to stop flipping over
