Default Tf Cortina question

Hi all. New here and not knowledgeable. Quick and possibly stupid question to ask. Recently purchased a TF cortina gl 4cyl. Lhf fender riddled with rust. Opportunity to buy fhl and fhr fenders from a Te cortina xle. Is there any panel difference on the te to tf or can I swap them over? Thanks in advance

Front guards are different. The indicators on the TF extended around the front corner, where as on the TE the indicators were flush with the headlights. You can swap them over if you fit the indicators too.

Thanks for that. Is it difficult to switch the indicators over? Just wondering if its worth the trouble because my current lh guard has a fist size hole in it. Have to get that plated up. No good at metal work myself would have to see a crash repairer.

Bear in mind you may struggle to find a good second hand guard without the same problems, you can get repro guards but they may take some messing around to get them to fit right.
They might make a repair section for it, try the UK somewhere like xpressed panels, they call them a Mark 5 Cortina's over there.
It'd be the same amount of work and cost as fitting and painting another guard I'd have thought.

These guards are NOS. Unpainted so I would need to get that done. However the cost of getting my hands on them are 360 a piece plus freight so I'm weighing up the cost benefit here. My mate was a spray painter so that I can get done cheaper but he can't do metal work either

at 360 a piece plus freight you could just get the one you need and the money you save pay to have it cut and graphed to the one you have repairing the hole and keeping the TF look

or don't buy any (keeping the $1k+) and take it to a repairer and see what they will charge to replate the rust and repaint if you remove (or let them do the whole job)

Thanks for the helpful feedback everyone. At this rate I'm probably better removing the panels and taking them in for repair I think. An ex girlfriend of mines family runs a metal fabrication business. She could probably direct me to the right person for that part.

I'm not looking to sink too much cash into the car at the moment. Divorce is expensive so this project is fairly minor at this point. Not driveable just yet. Just wish the last owner didn't remove the antenna and then leave the hole exposed.

Does anyone know what colours the TF Cortina Ghia was released in here in Australia? I have seen the Ghia variant in White, Brown, Silver, Red, Blue, Mustard, & Yellow. I have only seen one yellow one which i suspect was a repaint. The others would be factory colours, going by the number seen at car meets & on the web. Anyone who has accurate information as an original owner or who worked at Ford at the time i would like to hear from.
