Default Name Your Car Day

Sunday is Name Your Car Day.

Anyone like to share what name(s) they have for their car(s)?

Not so much me, but my son (now 7) gives the cars name's, and they seem to stick.

My SS is called "The Pumpkin"

The Jeep "Jeepy Mc Jeep Face"

The Kia "Kenny Kia"

Not very original, but they seem to have stuck (at least for Wifey and my Son)

The daily Pug is Paris, because it’s lost its youthful looks and is high mileage. My plush Pug is Kim, after Kim Duthie of St Kilda lore. The other Pug is the “S*** Sandwich” because it comprehensively damaged my life. AU is Foster Ute, the BA utes are Gay Ute and Povo Ute, the red van is Freddie, the white van Buffy, Territory is Dover (from My Fair Lady), the Alfas are Ralph and Alfalfa. There’s a Renault and a Citroën without names.

The Falcon and Escort are Big Henry and Little Henry, however the Escort was referred to as The Rotten Lemon whilst I was doing the rust repairs.

The TD Cortina is Tina.

The Corolla is Dimples due to the hail damage.

The other Cortina, after five years still doesn't have a name. When its eventually finished and I get to drive it for the first time I'll pick one based on its character.

All my cars went by the same name. "She".

She's a beauty.
She's fast.
She's stuck.
She's crook.
Her battery is flat.
She has a flat tyre.
She blew a gasket.

I broke tradition with the XR8 and it's called "The Beast ".

The XR8 is the only car with a name.

I don't normally think like this, and I'm really sorry if this offends, but this is going to be a really sexist post.

So, the XR8 has a pretty lusty engine under it's bulging bonnet. Like a big pair of breasts if you will. Like the lovely weather presenter Jane Bunn, more famous for her chest than her meteorological skills.

So, meet Miss Jane..........

We called her Flappy, where she used to read the Albury news. She would constantly shrug her shoulders.

I didn't think I had a name for my Mustang.
But come to think of it, maybe its name is Jesus Christ.
That is usually what I am thinking if I floor it.

My original front runner was "Peregrine" (fitting as fastest Falcon, fastest animal in fact at over 300km/h). But didn’t think it would resonate with everyone and didn’t get a lot of support.

“Interceptor” became #2 preference as it was appropriate for the car and had Mad Max connotations.

Ultimately landed on "Sprint" given the history, customer input and those with more stripes.

Reminiscing with some mates last night over a few beers and we got to talking about our old Drift Car from back in the day... S13 180SX.. that we called Roxanne. After killing a few engines we came up with the name - based on the Police Song, specifically the lyrics "Roxanne.. You don't have to put on the red light" after the Engine light.. Good times...
