Default Aluminised vs Stainless steel

Whats the difference between aluminised and stainless steel? Do they both last just as long?

no... stainless steel will usually last longer..
Aluminised steel is cheaper, has some of the qualities of ally ie- it has a softer fininsh which is easier to polish, I am guessing but I'd say the heat transfer is better, but doesn't weigh any less because it is usually coated over mild steel. Alumininised steel will eventually oxidize where SS won't

Simply answered... No Aluminised will not outlast stainless. Hence the significant price difference. As you can imagine there are many different grades of stainless steel, some cheap and nasty will probably last just as long as aluminised steel, however most exhaust specialists would be using a reasonable grade stainless which will outlast alumised steel undoubtably. Aluminised steel is basically a mild steel with a % of aluminium designed to resist rusting but is not rust proof. My opinion would be to go with aluminised steel, its cheaper and will last if you drive your vehicle daily.

discussing my sprints exhaust with my local exhaust fitter, his comments were:

"yea, its the orginal system, **** grade stainless, but it'll last for years
