Word of advice, if you are going to the Gold Coast restaurant, DO NOT GO ON A SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!!!!!

You'll find that they cut more corners to get everyone fed, and this results in longer delays for your mains, a lower supply of the salad bar foods (mainly the potato skins which is the most important item in the bar), and worst of all, significantly less cheese bread!!!!

Such a shame Sizzler went under in Vic......miss it still.

Went to Marochydore Sizzler 3 times when we were on holiday there last year...Good value even compared to the surf club's

The best one I have been to is the Annerley (sp?) one... Absolutely awesome.
Hasn't mattered what night I have been, the food is always been great and the service fantastic too.

Cant say the same about the one at Loganholme though.. not good :

Yep, weeknights are better at the Gold Coast one. We've been there Friday and saturday nights and it is chockers, and as MrSparkle said, seriously lacking in the essential potato skins and cheese bread. Weeknights, if you're lucky they'll come and give you extra cheese bread!!

The Maroochydore one was good - not half as busy as the Gold Coast one.

Don't ever go to the Mermaid Beach one during Indy week.

It's absolutely bulls**t. Crowded with people.

Interesting spotting this thread today...

My significantly pregnant missus was bugging the ИИИИe outta me yesterday asking for malibu chicken, but being in S.A. that pregnancy driven desire had to go unfulfilled.

Luckily we're holidaying in Qld next month, so all is not lost.

Pointer for cheese bread lovers. Here in S.A. there is a bread available in the fridge section of the local I.G.A. supermarket (assume you could likely get it elsewhere) that is EXACTLY the same taste, bloody wunderbar!

I'll dig up a bit out of the fridge if I can find it 2nite and retrieve the brand

I must say i have had sizzler at Annerley and it was terrible the last 2 times i have been there. But the loganholme store was great.

If you want cheese toast at home all you need is the following:

Parmisen Cheese crated fine mix in Margarine well. The more cheese the stronger the flavour.

And bread unsliced so you can cut it the width you like.

Then place spread side down onto a hot plate till cooked the way you like it.

You can also grille it instead.

Ahh Sizlord. Still busy in QLD.... not as much though.

Strathpine is pretty good, Morayfield is okay but really busy, Annerlly was good when i've been there.

Indro was good, Maroochydore is great for lunch.... I think Carindale has one too?

I've been to far too many Sizlords! :S

We used to go HEAPS when they had one in penrith (or near penrith, can't remember)...

I eat at sizzler all the time as i work for the company that owns it in Australia.

I don't work in the Sizzler division myself but when you get a discount it even better.

Sizzler and Lone Star both went bankrupt I think in Victoria and both rumoured to be for same reasons. The reason being civil action over apparent bodily fluids found in food. I am not 100% sure this is fact but is well known rumour.

YUCK!! :

There was a place in Beverly Hills, Sydney, called The Keg, several years ago, which was a lot like The Lone Star, but they were actually good!!
Think they went broke too.
There are still a few Lone Star's in NSW. I didn't like their food to much myself.

Last time I went out for dinner was to the Hogs Breath at Cronulla.
Food was good, but we took my car and it ended up covered in salt spray from the beach. :

Kerri,
The one at Redcliffe is nicer than the one at Morayfield. More cheese toast given out than at Morayfield. Then you can do a hoon along the waterfront where all the holden heads hang out.

Just heard that all Sizzlers bars are closed due to Rat Poison being found at 2 Brisbane Restaurants...
Still waiting to hear more (or find more).. but looks like they have taken all precautions and stopped them all...

Has anyone else heard anything more?

i believe that was the actual original one.. and yes, it was half decent at the time.

No way in hell I'd eat at any Sizzlers now.. WAY to many nasty stories.

Oh, wouldnt eat at Lone star either. They were a client of a company I worked for and, while doing routine maint on the swipe clocks, opened one up to find it crawling with ИИИИroaches.. apparently they loved peanut shells... :

The rat poison is a new diet fad...

I last ate at Gold Coast sizzler on Saturday night, and apart from the wait for a seat, it was all good.

Yeah, just saw on the news, apparently rat poison found in the pasta sauce? in brisbane, and 'green pellets' also found in a Brisbane CBD store. Don't know what to believe, all i know is when ive been there the foods been great. Apart from the wait.
