Default The Best Cams !!!

Ok so we have all done the rounds. What is the best 1/4 mile streetable cam?

Is it the dev 5?
Is it wade, crow or anyone else?

I dont really think it is relevant what it feels like. How has it performaed down the 1/4 mile? This is relevant. Whats the good of a cam which doesnt perform...nothing. Lets sort this out here shall we? This can include our e series brothers as well. Please dont make it political. Please post your cam and your time if you think it was a good proven mod.

i love mine... best idle ever... goes hard all the way to 6000rpm, and doesnt even show signs of backing off...

so far, 14.56 @ 96.11, with a ИИИИhouse clutch!!! definitly could get better 60ft and trap speed, as the clutch is staying on the floor, and slow to release...

also, 162RWKW...

I have a Surecam custom billet cam... my request was, good mid range and top end power... I DONT CARE ABOUT THE IDLE!!!

dont forget, JMM have pretty much got a car thats setup for drag racing... i dont think it will be a daily driver...

reading street fords they had a write up, and they said either set your car up for drag or street...

i dont think putting in struts and springs compete with 4x4 clearance's and removing your front swaybar is your daily driver... but yes, its the quickest N/A I6 4.0L

and from memory they had front runners and slicks... it would be amazing how much difference slicks would make...

nah, i dont think they had slicks just thick street tyres, they were the old school ones with tread like zig zags all the way down...dunno the exact name.

Thanks oed666..good input so far.Good power is a pleasure whether on a street or race car. I am talking about daily street drivers that occasionally do drags.Brendans car is a very quick car but not street car.

So ..

Surecams good power/times...good idle.14.56
Dev 5 good power and good idle Sox 14.4
Dev 4 Nik Idle? good time (if I may) 14.5

looks like the jmm dev5 's got the best results so far.
i have ran the jmm streetfighter cam and gnd's hammo spec cam ,on the dyno they were very close.
jmm cam 156.7 rwk @4900 348 rw nm torque @3300 ,set as per jmm specs
gnd cam 158.3 rwk @5400 340 rw nm @ 3400 ,set @ 0 degree's on vernier gear.
both cams were tuned and dyno'd @ cnj .
the only different mod between running both cams was ,i ran a rpm heavey duty clutch with the jmm cam and back to the standard au clutch for the gnd cam.
at the track they were very close only a tenth between the two in simalar conditions .gnd's cam advanced 4 degrees ran 2 to 3 tenths better than jmm's . but in al fairness though i never played with cam timming with the jmm cam.

You wouldnt of needed to play with the JMM cam, they would have given you the specs for optimum performance. I dont know if you would have gotten much more out of it.
As for GnD's cam being on 0 degree's I'd say theres still a fair bit left in it once adjusted.
Either way they both are good cam's by the sound of it.
Surecams are starting to look appealing aswell!

whats wrong stav.. the Dev4 isnt doing it for you anymore?

I think the dev 4 is one of the best cams. ED I6 ran a 14.2 with his dev 4 cam. I chose the dev 4 cam for its future potential. Headwork is currently being undertaken and I am expecting some more gains. It will come alive with the small boost in compression ..I am certain of it. The current head in my AU is not a very good one at all.

Alted cams are still yet to attain enough data to assess their times as they are pretty new.

Crescent's Stage 2 cam seems to be quite good ... you'd need to speak to YOBO4D though about it .... I remember seeing his times posted with he EB Gli wagon ... and was quite impressive ... pacie extractors and 2.5" system .... with 350,000km+ on the motor too. I think it was in the 14's

which cam and which chip work ???? ray at crow cams reckons you can get 20% more power just from a mild cam with no chip just exhaust !!! is that possible and if so does it justify going for the extra bucks all out produce only a few more kw's???

Yobbos wagon is a really nice example and a MANUAL. I saw it run a dyno day and the Crescent stage 2 is about as good as my dev3hl. Maybe even a better mid range but at the end of the day even though it was a manual it ran 136rwk and I ran 139rwkw. Not much in it at all. Given Joe's prices I would say the Crescent stage two is great value. Yobbos wagon was in really good nick though for its age.
