Default A/F Ratio Guage

I am about to wire in my new o2 sensor and though it would wire in my Air Fuel ratio guage while i was at it.

There are four wires coming out of it.
- Red (power?)
- Black (Earth?)
- Purple??
- White??

Im not sure where the purple and white wires will go to on the o2 sensor wires?

Cheers, Matt.

purple wire goes to the o2 sensor, the signal wire on the o2 sensor

the white wire is the illumination wire and hooks up to your lights.

it wont work properly though, you need to fit a wideband o2 sensor to get an accurate reading from the o2 sensor the stock o2 sensor works basically like a switch on/off which causes the gauge to bounce back and forwards from lean to rich.

i think it was the grey wire on the o2 sensor, dont quote me on that though.

i took mine out, found it very distracting have a light bouncing back and forwards in my car.

i went down to KPM motorsport here in SA,and they checked through the bosch booklet to tell me what colour whire i had to tap it into

just to add, if you wanted to wire it straight up to the ecu at some stage, without running wiring into the engine bay, it is pin 35 on the ecu, should be a green wire with blue trace

the two white wres are the heating circuit, the black wire is the sensor ground refrence wire, the grey one is the O2 feedback wire (the one u need)

the on off switched O2 sensor are only used in post cat application on euro 4 onward complient vehicles (2006 on). the aftermarket O2 gauges do read of narrow band O2 sensors just fine

hehe... no
I had one in my car (its still there just un connected)
it is a autometer procomp item, it just bounced back and forth when cruising (closed loop) then when accelerating it went into full rich then yeah...
its not very useful at all really
much better off with a wide band sensor and guage (more accurate readout due to the larger more precise range of the sensor)
get a trans temp and an oil pressure guage or somthing instead

Farkin lol....

lol two guages that are now next to useless haha. Boost.... Sigh and A/F ratio... sigh.

I have been looking at trans temp and a decent oil pressure guage..

Arrr mate their not quite useless. Just useless while your on your P's :-)

One day, when the hairdryer is hanging off the engine, they'll come in handy. Besides you've gotten me worked up at too many AFD's talking about this. Can't give up now mate....

Haha yeah very true.. It started and ran. So its a start. If i get the right price offered i will sell it and get the rest of the car ready for the turbo.

There is around $8000 worth of stuff.. with depressiation and what not i would take $6000 or close to that and it wouldnt need much more. So with that money it would be either manual or auto beefed up. Plus 3.7's and a tune. From there i would start building a off tap motor and build it do really put a smile on ya face.
