Default What new FPV model is being released Sept 1?

Carsguide today - first page says "following on the heels of the F6E is a new FPV model being released nationally on September 1"

What is it?

Actually after some secret market research on the tradional values held by FPV V8 buyers and the poor sales performance of the Force 8 they have becided to rename it the:

FPV GST

Unfortunately despite all the promises it will be just the same as the previous offerengs but 10% more expensive.

The 10% extra expense however can be claimed back if you hold an Automotive Bogan Notation in your monthly Bogan Adventure Story.

Scary, they are talking about the XR8 being dropped. Are they going to drop the XR6T as well and bring in a 6T under the F6 in the FPV line up, a GS6 or GST?

Looks like it's gonna replace the XR8 as the new entry level V8

Sounds like they are testing the waters with a cheaper model whilst getting rid of surplus parts.

There have been other articles, particularly from GoAuto/Mellor, that indicate the XR8 is not going away.

I don't know about anyone else, but GoAuto eNews is my bible, and I tend to trust it more than the other scribes around the traps.

I laugh when people comment about surplus parts, like the SR days when everyone said Ford just did SR Falcons to empty parts bins.. Its called just in time manufacturing, do you think ford just stock piles 302 motors and typhoon wheels?

Not likely!

How much? At $45-50k it would be a nice car to have for someone after a V8 Falcon. At $50-55k you'd be better off buying a demo or low k GT.

A bit of a cheaper version of a GT with a slightly different stripe package and existing V8, and an old nameplate that features on said stripe package

They would be killing themselves if they did that..

While i agree on the GT pricing part if you look at RRP its still 10 kay cheaper.. Sadly they wont be discounting them because they are in high demand.. or thats what the dealers are going to make us believe!

What about the theory of them dropping the F6, and letting ford be the 6T company, FPV be the V8?? its only a hypothetical but wiht the way Fords dropped V8s and now has 4 Turbo models.. F XR5T, M XR5T, FXR6T and G6ET perhaps thats the trend they are going to go with.

Looks like a decent, mid priced option for people who want an FPV but dont want to stretch to a GT. A run of 250 will give them a good idea how popular it will be. FPV's step away from Ford badging will make it a more desirable vehicle as well. Im definately going to have a look at one when there out

The FPV powerhouse stable is about to launch another scorching model...

...following on the heels of the hot F6 E unveiled a couple of weeks ago.

And one lucky Carsguide reader will be among the first to get behind the wheel of this awesome machine as our Guest Tester.

The new vehicle will be released nationally on September 1, but FPV is not releasing much in the way of detail, except to say they mystery car will again pay tribute to Ford’s rich muscle car history.

“Our next model to be revealed is something we’re really excited about,” FPV’s general manager Rod Barrett said. “The beauty of being a local manufacturer is that we can respond relatively quickly to market demand.

“And this new V8 vehicle -- along with our recently released F6 E -- is a product that we envisage will be warmly welcomed by fans of the blue oval,” he added.

“With plenty of FPV DNA running through its veins, our new addition will, like the rest of our range, be easily identified on the street and from behind the wheel as an FPV product.”

And you could be the one to fly to Melbourne to drive this car for a weekend in October, as Carsguide’s Guest Tester. You’ll also have a guided tour of the FPV and Ford Performance Racing workshops, hosted by one of FPR’s V8 Supercar drivers.

After the test drive, your review of the car will be published on carsguide.com.au, with photos of you at work behind the wheel.

To enter, tell us below in 50 words or less why you want to win.

You must be over 25 and hold a current full manual licence to enter. Include your contact details and address, and also tell us if you saw the competition in your local newspaper's Carsguide section - because during each of the four weeks of the competition, each participating newspaper will announce a ‘shortlist’ winner from among their readers, who gets a great FPV prize package worth $80. Check back in your paper each week to see if that’s you.

The competition closes at 5pm EST, Friday September 11, and the name of the Guest Tester will be announced in your local Carsguide section, and here, the following week.

So the car gets released on the 1st of September and you could be the super lucky one to go test drive it a month and a half later? :

Wouldn't it be a lot quicker to tee up a test drive with the local FPV dealer?

Wish they would reveal some proper pics, those last ones look bogus. Needs the bonnet bulge for starters, along with the XR front.

Dave.
