G'day normally go to winternats with 3 or 4 other guys and stay on the gold coast , hire an apartment( fairly cheap if you shop around) cook your own meals or walking distance to buy, we normally rent a car for the duration, if the drags are rained out its only a short trip up to coolangatta to check out the rides at wintersun. Bit of a drive from willowbank to gold coast , but it's cheap luxury accommodation. Unfortunately i'm not going this year due to work commitments, but the other guys are , unreal action. Unless your going for an extended stay you will probably be like us and spend all your time at the track(leaving early and getting back late) just a tip take warm clothes to the track it can get bloody freezing there at night.

unless you booked months ago, any accomodation close by will be near impossible. Most book 12 months in advance to keep what they have. Gold Coast is a good option and definately take beanies, coats, scarves, blankets etc as it gets freezing there later in the night esp if you sit in the grandstand

I will be going to watch but nnot racing. I can't justify paying nearly $400 to enter and runner up only gets $350 back. I will stick to the Nostalgias where all classes get treated as equal participants rather than Super street getting the bum deal as usual.

Broadbeach would be your best close to night clubs, casino and 5min to the Gold Coast. You will defiantly wont get accommodation anywhere near the track. Also take some warm clothes as it can get down to 0. Plus don't miss Sat qualifying as its the best part of the meeting.

If you get some time, go and check out Wintersun at Coolangatta. They have a show & shine starting Saturday morning and the place has hundreds of cool cars. Very easy to get to if you are staying on the Gold Coast.
I promise you won't be disappointed.

Those pics of the T8 cars on the strip are some of the strangest pictures if seen in motorsport : IMO they just look out of place. Would have been awesome to see though.

Taken from the Willowbank site.......

SATURDAY

Jamie Whincup up against Craig Lowndes – now this pair of competitors from the V8 Supercars Kingdom are running their full race cars. Whincup, this is his first visit to Willowbank and during an on track interview he was saying he was absolutely blown away by drag racing, Lowndes who has been here before is totally enjoying his Winternationals Experience. They certainly sound like V8 Supercars, they are on the limiters, as they leave the line, they stall it Whincup recovers first, Lowndes wouldn’t even qualify for the street bracket, but Whincup would just make it.

Whincup and Lowndes again, now look Whincup has decided for the big tyre smoking burnout, Lowndes just a short water burnout, Whincup is out, he is running a fantastic pass, but Lowndes stalls it off the start line and yet again wouldn’t make it into super street. Whincup would now be in Super Sedan.

1 EX 0.00 0.413 2.037 4.886 7.196 107.04 9.186 10.866 134.05 3

We have strong burnouts in both lanes from these V 8 Supercar competitors, Lowndes has opted for the opposite lane this time, and Whincup he wholeshots Lowndes both of these cars would now qualify for Super Sedan.

I thought that with 60ft times like that, that they had heaps of wheel spin but after watching V8 Extra on sat they interveiwed Craig Lowndes and he said they had the cars on the limiter and dropped the clutch and they just stalled onthe line. they were running a 3 something diff ratio and were just bogging down due to so much traction on the track.HE said that on a couple of occations they just stalled it completely.
