…Car discussed elsewhere on the forum; not a Ford.

To remove the lower radiator hose:
1. Drain cooling system.
2. Remove fan with viscous clutch from water pump pulley hub.
3. Remove fan shroud.
4. Access AC compressor belt tensioner, release tension and remove belt.
5. Disconnect battery, release tension on alternator drive, set belt aside, remove alternator.
6. Release all mounting bolts from AC compressor, including braces, move compressor aside.
7. Access hose clamps and remove radiator hose.

I’ll take a Barra over that nonsense, any day.

I gave up watching free-to-air TV a very long time ago. I can't/won't listen to radio either, just end up watching/listening to ads.

$15 a month for Youtube Premium is so worth it, unlimited entertainment on any subject I choose, no adds.

Dropped the car off for a standard service. I get a call saying my RR wheel bearing needs to be replaced. ****en $500+ and then a wheel alignment for another $95.

I get there and the car ain't there. Still at the the other joint. They broke a nut on the control arm and replaced it but hadn't done the alignment! So now I have to get that sorted next week.

Oh and now the transfer case bearings have issues so may need to get that done soon, so might as well do the whole box and then the clutch

To make things more complicated is apparently they have gone up heaps in value and the fact you're paying so much more for another car new or used it might actually be worth doing. Not so long ago I was thinking **** it sell it as a wreck and get a new car. I hate that because it makes the decision less easy

Think you need to find a decent mechanic who does not charge like a wounded bull; $500+ for a bearing?

They are the Subaru specialist in Canberra so trust them. It was all labour cost mostly. These things are money pits

I have a MY03 WRX. The only Forester I have driven is the old courtesy car and they are ****en boats compared to my car.

I would guess the newer ones would be a lot better, but any Suby as time goes on is $$$.

It's been reliable, it's daily driven and I flog it, but **** me it seems like a death by a thousand cuts at the moment

In a similar vein, able-bodied people mindlessly watching TV indoors when there’s a beautiful day outside. It’s an affront to every impaired person.

Are you working whilst housesitting? And is the housesitting in the same area as you normally reside? For some reason I assumed that the housesitting was away from your normal residence.

Yes working, that's why we house sit instead of staying in overpriced accommodation these days or I'll use the motorhome onsite if by myself.
Only 100k's from home atm.

Yeah I guess even basic accomodation is at least $100/ night. The thing that gets me is the price of caravan parks.Rent an unpowered site and it will cost $30-50 night.pretty good rent for about 60-70 sq mtrs of paddock and use of a communal shower and toilet

Son has a shower last night. He comes down to tell me water come up through the drainholes.
How Much?
His face suggests I should go look for myself.
Water all through the hallway. Floating floorboards are well and truly floating. Carpet at entry of 2 bedrooms soaked through. Hmmmm.
The lady I spoke to for insurance purposes was nice at least.

Sorry, single story home. There are steps down to the shed.
We always have referred to it as upstairs / downstairs.

Yep, photos have been taken and currently waiting for builder to come take a look. Hoping we can salvage the carpets (its only at the doorways, but it wont surprise me if they want to rip it up).

We've been here before. Last time I was more annoyed.
I had spent 3 weekends laying our floorboards through the main part of the house. The following weekend, a blockage well up the street backed up into our laundry and ruined all the completed work.

I’d be vigorously throwing around buckets of antiseptic solution. Never mind the carpet, the place will be chockers with faecal coliform bacteria by now.

I don't think its quite this bad.
Really looks like the shower just overflowed. So clean water that couldn't go down.
Its 12 hours and no smell.
All still sucks though.

Fingers crossed. In NSW most newer bathrooms the shower goes to its own trap then joins the wastewater service. I have seen older builds and units where the shower charges the floor gully and if this is your situation - blocked gully trap, usually with hair and tiling waste - yes, much less nasty. But I have also seen sewer blockages downstream of the pan, back up in showering because water volume is much greater than the toilet flushing. They’re nasty, the shower and floor wastes get back-charged with paper and #2.

Go to kennards and rent a blower/dehumidifier thing. Even if its not much carpet that got wet, once mould sets in it will stink. And keep it running for a bit after the carpet drys out as whatever is under weather that be wood or concrete, it will have absorbed water.

Yeah, our 2007 flooding was a bit more nasty than this one. If I had seen a #2 though, I would have either set the place on fire or moved.

All the available towels helped the initial absorbing and heaters been running all day.
Feels good but yes, what the concrete is like underneath is still unknown....and todays inspection has been delayed annoyingly.

I got my wheel alignment done. I think they may have put the wrong settings into it but generally it has been better.

My steering wheel is dropping to the left a bit still so thinking I have something bent which doesn't surprise me with the pothole lottery going on

More likely the toe in was a bit out so the lazy wheel alignment person adjusted one side only instead of both sides
