Default Ford forum iPhone app?

Just wondering if any of our more tech enabled members could create an iPhone app to view the site with. Another automotive forum I look at has this set up and it works really well. Unless one exists already and I haven't found it. Happy to provide the name of the other forum or app if that helps someone.

iPhones offend me.

I don't think it'd be a worthwhile thing imho...If you want to view the forums, do so on a PC.

Phones are for SMS and phone calls.

Whilst i don't have an Iphone, i do think something targeted to mobile devices is a good idea.
Maybe not an iphone app, but maybe a light weight theme or more mobile friendly design?

just because grandpa up there can't use his phone online doesn't mean we should disadvantage others.

Whilst that may be your opinion, there are plenty of us that do have iPhone's and to us it is a worthwhile thing.

I it'd make reading the forums while on the dunny so much easier.

I find the iPhone version of 'another' site just too basic to be useful, I usually flip to the full version. AFF is nicely useable on iPhone in full version.

of course they are, just like cars are only for getting from A to B, and computers are only for downloading pictures of Elle Mcpherson. Welcome to the new millennium, nice to see you! These days phones ARE used for more than calls and SMS, cars are modified regularly and driven just for the sake of driving, and the internet is also used for pointless YouTube comments section arguments

i was using email on my phone back in about 2003. it was relatively pointless and very cumbersome but it worked.

i've used this site on my iphone and it works ok, as mentioned already the ap would most likely lose functionality.

It'd be great once the forum has been upgraded if the tapatalk plugin was installed, they have apps for iPhone/Android/Symbian/Blackberry that interface with the forums, works quite well!

I don't find not having an app any disadvantage ... takes seconds through the main screen .... comes up way better than any other phone I have used.

I was browsing AFF the other day whilst waiting in line at Maccas, it was a massive line - but not a PC in sight. I love being able to browse AFF and other sites while waiting for the misses to get ready, waiting at the doctors, sitting on the loo... get with the times.

OT, AFF looks great on the iPhone as it is, but it is a little annoying zooming in and out, would be nice if there was an 'optimised for iPhone version'. I like what caradvice.com.au has done for the iPhone, it's not an App, just go to the site through the internet explorer to see what I'm talking about.

Yeah tapatalk was the app I was referring to. I browse Perth street bikes forum on it and it's great. Don't get me wrong - the forum works quite well on portable devices as it is - I just found this worked really well. They have adapted it for nokias and some other smart phones too. It's not like adding that app would change the existing forum at - it just adds to the functionality for portable users (or dunny browsers)! Those who didn't want it could just keep going as they are. Somehow the whole iPhone and ipad thing really polarizes people!

The site works OK on my Nokia N95. Was browsing AFF yesterday whilst waiting for flights at various airports.

Been using AFF on Nokias and my bloody iPhone, and the site works fine on all those devises as is. Why create more work for the guys that built and look after the site just so you can have an "app"?!

i got an iphone because i appreciate its seamless integration, but more importantly, because most places have aps for the iphone. it's basically the most compatible phone.. i couldn't give two craps about 'how totally awesome' it looks or any superficial attitude toward it.. It's the same reason i use windows, there are many free and paid alternatives, but windows is the most widely compatible. do you use windows? or is that too generic too because 'everyone else does'?

seriously though what's your problem with it? move on!

Exactly. I couldn't care less how popular/look-at-me it is, it's simply the best phone on the market (by a long shot) in my personal opinion.
