Default Strange "power"

Hey.

This has been a strange problem with my car for a while now.

When taking off the power is not "linear".

As it gets just past 2,000rpm it "slumps" in power, then a few 100rpms later it picks up again, it does this right thru the rev range.

SO

The car revs fine in Neutral, so could it be the Gear Box, or the engine has trouble when load is applied. (in gear)

I changed the Spark plug leads with no difference.

Could it be the coil pack?

Car is a 96 EF I6 Sedan, 223,000, reco head.

Please give me a clue guys.

Recently did my EF fuel filter and I think it was just in front of the passenger back wheel.
