Default What car is this?

Over on the Vic Pol facebook page there is some debate raging over what car this is. There has been an attempted abduction in Narre Warren and the car has been described by the police and the victim as a commodore. What do you think?

I'd say a mk2 xr6 (or a turbo) judging by the lower grill

Looks like a badgeless fg xr6, possibly without the rear wing.

I can see the rear wing from the picture. Not sure if it's de-badged or not, hard to tell without a clear shot.

But yes, definitely an FG2 XR.

This is what I see - a late '90s commodore.

Edit: The bit that really says VT to me is the single circular curve over the top of the doors down past the rear quarter window. It dives flat/forwards on an FG.

Though the motion blur is a killer on that, and the overexposure. It's distorting a lot of features and not leaving much to go on.

I agree it looks like the FG XR6.

BUT assuming it IS a Commodore, I think it looks like it could be a VT with a bodykit, but hmm it doesn't have the grille divider.

The A pillar, C pillar, lack of fog lights, and the opposite orientation of the bumper grill make it look like a mk2 falcon of some description

Number plate sits directly in the top part of the lower grille and the front bumper also has that white strip under the lower grille as opposed to the VT's bar as shown. The front bumper's lower edge line directly matches that of a FG mk2 and the fog lights are on also.

Everything to me so far points to a FG XR6 Mk2.

The Police release calls it a "1990s model white Holden Commodore sedan with black rims"

looks like a VX-VZ to me
the A pillar looks thicker because of the motion blur, same as the exterior mirrors

I'd lean towards a FG Falcon because the grill as mentioned but your average person is not going to be able pick that out.

A lot of surveillance pics that are released to the public are useless but you have to try on the off chance I guess.

I agree, FG grille. Has a similar contour to the new mustangs too obviously.
Surely police would know as they are the ones privy to the "rolling" footage!

HSV / SS driving lights are placed closer to the grille than the FG.
If it is in fact a holden then it can only be a VX or VY with a modified front bar.

Funny, that was my first assumption too.

"Surely someone who can afford such a vehicle (FG) would not stoop to such vulgar levels as these 2 men"!!!

I'd say FG 2 any day of the week. However Vicpol said this "We understand that the way the footage has frozen, it looks like a Ford Falcon, but the rolling footage and testimony of the victim points toward a Holden Commodore."

Unfortunately I agree its an FG2, but very easy to assume such a crime would be committed by a Commodore driver.

From the Picture id say FG, if it were a commodore it would be an VZ with a Club sport bumper?

note both those cars have a black strip between the doors and roof, I couldn't make that out in the picture
both have black under wing mirrors which you can see

100% no doubt in my mind its an FG2 XR6

our local coppers had a pic of a black SUV they wanted and they called it an X5 but it was a dead ringer for a Great Wall X240, i thought they would have specialists that could identify key features on cars for things like this
