I can't say I love any utes looks like I do a sedan but I can't see this much diff to any of the others, at least its got a Ford heartbeat thats the main plus.
That blue looks great though.
Interior no prob to me by the pics, lets wait and see one on the flesh.
Pricing will be interesting.

I hate VAG but I like the look of the front and the interior, I don't like that integrated blue rollbar/sunvisor thing on the back between the tub and the rear windscreen though.

I like all the angles going on at the centre console around the screen, not a fan of portrait orientation screens though, reminds me of boomers taking portrait video on their smartphones then sending it in to news stations who then play it and there's huge black bars on either side of the footage when you watch it on TV.

Front to me has a similar look to the Holden Colorado and looks dated already.
Then again they do sell the Atlas in the US which probably is the real link to Amarok styling wise.

I don't mind it.

If we end up deciding to replace the Colorado with another dual cab (at the moment we are looking at Everest) we will certainly be looking at this as an option. Why not, if they are pretty much the same underneath?

Meh looks alright for a dual cab I guess, interior let down by the crappy looking tablet jammed in there but that's nothing new for a modern vehicle.

IIRC, Ranger will have AdBlue in the EU while in Aust. our emissions regs mean the Ranger passes without AdBlue.

This was an international media event for Amarok so AdBlue might be used in the Amarok for Australia and after diesel-gate they might not want to take any more negative press. We won't know until VW Australia release local specs.

Looks ok, more conservative and blends more with the crowd than Ranger. But man those VW badges, do they want to get any bigger? Those 4Motion decals look like EBay embellishments they'd come straight off. Interior looks great. Overall, not a bad looking bus. The colours nice too and appealing to user/choosers.

Squared off wheel arches to house a round wheel. Why? It's one of my pet hates in modern vehicles. To me it just doesn't look right.

Dash design is a bit of backwards step imo too. But overall, the VW designers did a reasonable job of the styling.

Will be interesting to see what VW's price premium over Ranger will be.

Im an outlier, I think it looks awesome, be interesting to see the pricing. Doing some reading today Ford has told them to get stuffed re: the raptor equivalent but at least in Australia VW have confirmed the 2.3 Turbo Petrol will be made available with 223kw/450NM.. A decent point of difference for those who have been asking Ford for this exact thing...

GM does the same thing with the Silverado, its one of the constants over the years, squared off wheel arches.

The fuel economy numbers will be interesting. The 2.3 in the north american rangers goes pretty well when i’ve driven them.

Probably not the best time to introduce it with petrol over $2 a litre. Would have been a good option if petrol was under $1.50.

Tide is turning pretty quick against diesels, a lot of people prefer pettys over modern diesels.

That sports bar is very Chevy Avalanche-esque and I am not a fan. I feel like that blue doesn't really do it many favours either.

This DPF and SCR schmozzle trying to get them through Euro V/VI causes half the reliability dramas.

Wonder if the problems are because just the weight of the vehicle itself and the suburban driving isn't enough load on it to get the exhaust hot enough without it having to do lots of regenerations - where as if you use it like a commercial vehicle for work they don't flog out.

I think the problem is with the existing strategy that most companies have adopted to meet regulations.
What Bosch found is that all the elements used can be kept but the engines and exhausts have to run
hotter than they do now and that gives them the heat to light off the DPF and keep NOX under control.

The irony is that the new Bosch strategy allows diesels emissions to be dramatically reduced
to levels thought impossible about three years ago when Euro were plotting the demise of diesels.

It looks like the cab, doors and underpinnings are Ford, the interior, front and tray are VW, pretty much what Mercedes did with the Navara, seems to be more and more sharing of platforms now to save on designing a total new vehicle.

2023 Ranger has the same door lines roof and windscreen for sure.

It will though, cause VW premium. I would assume they will have a few more standard features over the equivalent Ford though, to help justify the extra RRP. But I would expect them to 3-4k more.

It will be interesting to see how efficient they are especially, as you say, with petrol as expensive as it is.. Diesel is pretty close, but will be more efficient you would think...

Its an option though, for those who want a non Raptor petrol ute with some stink.. And even though its got a VW Badge, its Ford underneath.

Got to wonder as well if the powers that be at Ford will keep an eye on how well it does in Amarok as I would imagine if it sells well theres no reason they cant make it an option in Ranger..

Would be sweet having the ecoboost V6 as an option on XLT, Sport and Wildtrak as well

And it costs Ford nothing… if it doesn’t sell well then it’s vw problem, if it does then they can do it…

An eco boost Wildtrack would of been awesome… I guess again never say never (though probably unlikely as I assume Ford wants Raptor to have its own “hero” engine…

Spot on, where Mazda BT50 tried for lower prices than Ranger, VW range appears
to shadow what’s being offered in today’s trim levels, and then some.

There are small signs that fuel prices may start to ease a bit in the coming months,
people will be heaving a sigh of relief when that happens, we’re over the price gouging….

Nope, turned hard, Ford has in excess of 17,000 for the new Ranger, 4000 of those for the new Raptor, thats nearly a quarter of the vehicles being petrol.
