Default HELP ? - A MP3 player to fit a AUII XR6

Can anyone recomend a decent Mp3 player to replace the rubbish 6 stack cd player that is standard in the AU XR6 VCT ( something that will fit straight in the existing radio hole without mods to dash ). Preferably a brand meant for the AU that supports MP3 and the use of the controls on the steering wheel to adjust volume and change radio stations! , also a brand/model that supports the aerial up and down when switched on and off ... basically a MP3 player after market job MEANT for the AUII - ???????????????? any help on recomending brands/model greatlly apreciated . thx. ( just the head unit - not speakers etc etc ) . :eclipsee_ :ticking:

you can use pretty much any std DIN sized unit, and then from ford you can get a little coin pocket that slips underneath. Alot of the headunits you can get, have the control box for the AU steering wheel controls. I like Pioneer and Alpine stuff, but its personal opinion.

But i was in the local car audio joint a few month back, and they had a nice AU3 XR8 in there and they had just installed an Alpine unit, with the pocket and it looked factory, and they had it rigged up to use the steering wheel controls.

I also was dissapointed with my 6 stack, but after long searches for a replacement unit the same size which could use the steering wheel controls I gave up.Instead I got a 1gig mp3 player(at the time $150.00..but cheaper now) and a fm modulator( $60.00) just tune your radio into the fm signal from modulator, plug modulator into mp3 player, chuck it into the centre console and your done.the battries in the modulater last about 8hrs,so if you go this way get one with ciggi lighter plug.My mobile can also play mp3's,so we also hook the phone into the modulator.leaves everything standard and works well.

just make sure if u get a double din to replace it... it suits your dash.
Most doubles dins are flat and your current cd player is sorta round if u know what i mean.
I also wanted a double din however opted to get a auI pocket and single cd player on top.
here is a pic to see what i mean.
this is the best i could come up with.
hope u do find what u want
