Default Au Weight!!

On the weekend I went to the tip and its been in my mind that the wagon weighed 1620 kgs with close to empty fuel. With 68 litres of fuel it therefore weighs 1688 kgs.Add 85 kgs driver then the car weighs 1773 kgs. So much for the BA's being heavy.I thought these things were lighter but there you go..

Ford often tell porkies about the weight of the cars.

So do people funny about that.

At least your honest mate

85KG driver eh

Ford exagerated the weight loss of the AU's by being a bit too clever quoting the weight of the lightest possible variant of each model. Most accurate weights i have seen quoted by testers in magazines is.

AUI XR6 manual 1520Kg Auto 1553KG
AUI XR6 VCT manual 1615Kg Auto 1644KG
AUI XR8 manual 1624Kg Auto 1657KG
AUI Forte 1515KG Forte wagon 1598KG
AUI futura 1525KG Fairmont 1531KG Fairmont Ghia 1650KG.

AUII got more sound deadening and stuff and probably got heavier but the specs stayed the same.

I can say on WSID scrutineering lane 1 weighbridge my AUII Fairmont wagon weiged in at 1650kg

I'm only 80 kg's and my seat stitching is coming undone but i think maybe my bum split the fairlane seat by bieng too small. Th typical fairlane driver is of much larger dimensions.

car trailer full of junk, rubble, rennovations crap. And the ute run on LPG as well ... LOL.

It didn't go at all ... and when it finally got going .... it didn't want to stop.

It worked out to be about 3 ton being towed (inc. car trailer) ... was a white knuckle ride that's for sure ... good thing it was only for a short-ish distance.

I didn't realise it was THAT heavy till i went over the weighbridge at the tip.

im 70kg and my seat is still fine AU-Mustd so its not your fault

im thinking if you work in dirt/dusty conditions your seat has just really dried out
as my arm rest has got all cracked and dry due to my elbow resting on it after work.. as i work in a dusty warehouse

Depending on the density of liquid... i.e petrol not water... fuel isn't going to weigh exactly a kg per litre

But close enough

Ok who cares.
