Default Body kit for AU wagon, will I become a target??

Hi guys what do you think? I have seen some mean looking ford AU falcons around and am thinking about a body kit for the AU. It currently looks stock but goes well with the JimMock gear in it now.

I have yet to see a great looking wagon but want to break the mould. I am a bit worried about thieves and people trying to run me all the time. Have you guys seen a problem with what I am talking about? Or am I overreacting a bit?

The kit I am thinkig of is here http://www.awcinfo.com/secureshop/ca...=28&scat_id=56

I think it will look good mate.

You dont really see too many fully done up wagons around, so I say go for it.

What colour is your car?

Well if the [thieves] want it, they'll get it, no matter what you do (or don't do) to the car.

Out my way there's quite a few hotted up wagons (of the Commondoor variety unfortunately). Be good to see something to make up for that shortfall.

As far as people taking you on, well, I don't know if the Casper technique will work, but ignorance is bliss.

Umm, something to do with judicious use of something or other, I think it might have involved the rev limiter, although that I am not too sure.....

A subtle kit like that won't make you any more of a target to theives than without. Most car break ins are opportunistic, if they are walking by, looking in vehicles to steal stuff, most of the time they don't descriminate at all. My brother parks his Laser at the train station, and it's stock, and still has been broken into, as did his modified ED.

As far as targetting to steal the car, again, a subtle kit is not going to make people follow your car around and watch where you live. I've got a much wilder more distinctive custom bodykit on my Focus, which attracts so much attention that sometimes when I come out of shopping malls, people are looking at my car, which worries me a bit, but noone has ever broken into it, nor do I get followed home. There are a million easier cars to steal if they want to go for a joyride than a late model Falcon.

Because the kit looks similar to a Ford optional kit, it's not going to have Supras trying to line you up in a bid to run you down the quarter mile. Until you have it lowered, with dark tinted windows, some big wheels, and a deep authoritative exhaust, and rev at cars at the lights, I don't think you'll have any problems whatsoever.

And kitted wagons can look very good!

All the best with it.

Tim

i reckon that kit will add to the overall appearance of the car nicely. it's not over the top or anything either which is good. i'd say go for it. i must thank you for that link also, as its gonna end up saving me ~$150 on a bar i was after

The exhaust already attracts hoons, but I just ignore them.

Don't do it, plastic just adds weight to an already heavy car, and they look good with nice wheels and lowered anyway.

like most, i don't think it will make much difference as far as people wanting to drag you is concerned.

Having said that, though, I'm not a huge fan of it. It seems too bulky around the rear wheel for my liking. BUT each to his own! ;)

Cheers,
Dave

Wagons look awesome lowered, with dark tints and big wheels. The body kit will just enhance it.

Go for it.

Stav, if you like it, do it. You only live once.

Personally, I would lower it, put on some nice wheels and see how it looks. Then, if it isnt enough, throw on the kit.

I'm with Sox and Thanatos on this, not a big fan of kits.

(and who would have believed I'd agree with Sox AND Thanatos at the same time? This new AFF is just so touchy feely!!)

there is a galaxy blue AU wagon with 18" chromies and a nice tint running around my area.. It looks very tidy indeed.. no kit just straight as an arrow sitting nice and low on big wheels

I was very impressed with the overall impact it has
No kit for me

AU wagons look great when they're lowered and have either AU1 or AU2 17s and dark tinted windows.

I've attached a pic of my folks wagon, which has 17's, and is lowered.
(And is now a better picture).

Very true, but then not too many EB Falcons get around with bodykits anyway, if you get what I mean.

And yes, that rear just looks poorly executed, chunky in places, not chunky enough in others.

it doesnt look too bad, they need to learn how to take photos though!@

good photography could make that car look so much better than it does in that pic

also that colour really does nothing for the kit!

as said though, lower it and fit some alloys first, and if you think it needs more, then go for the kit

Default Interesting Read

Been thinking of adding a body kit to my AUI wagon but like some of the posts here, it kinda looks good just the way it is - Sparkling Burgandy, tickford supsension, Tints (except front side windows - not allowed in NZ) and 16" CSA mags. Have posted a pic for comments but i need to learn to take better photos...Cheers
