Another family gets that "knock on the door". I hope they find the other car and string the driver up by the thumbs.......fools!!!! and yes at 27 he should have had more brains. Wonder if he has a young family waiting for him to come home?

Somehow I doubt a red light would deter people from racing through it

27yrs old, one would assume that yes he wouldve grown out of it by then, clearly not.
Sad for those families involved.

Add a camera and losing 6 points would deter most.

Ha nope... if they are drag racing do you think they would care to notice?

We have I think 10 red light cameras here in townsville.
Yet EVERY day (worse in peak hour) i see dozens of cars go through red lights each time the lights change, up to 15seconds after they have changed to red.

Meanwhile the twits with green lights sit there like sheep waiting, no road rage, no flashing of headlights, no one moves......

Dont get me wrong, id prefer more red light cameras over speed cameras.
Red light cameras are a very useful tool whenever an accident occurs at an intersection and removes any doubt.
It doesnt stop people, maybe deters a few, but yes more of them and i wont complain.

Age has nothing to do with stupidity it seams. Last night I saw a Brand new HSV race a Honda civic down the main street of Newcastle

Not that many young guys can afford a brand new HSV. So who knows how old this guy was.
But the worse part was he raced a Honda Civic. Really? He had to prove he was faster to a 90's model Civic? That is just sad.

it`s been said a thousand times, driver education and more police would help, but there will always be one that pushes the envelope for that bit of exitement at the wrong time, be they in a morris minor or an lambo, it has to be drummed into them from a young age, the street is not the place for a quick thrill, punishment after the event won`t ever work.

DUMB,DUMB,DUMB.........I mean seriously, 27 years old, c'mon man REALLY.

But what do you do with these people that insist on drag racing on public streets. You may think your a good driver, however they are PUBLIC streets, meaning that anyone or anything can happen while your racing along one of these roads.

What do we do, automatically crush cars if your caught street racing, heavier fines, loss of licence. Who knows what will work.

Everyone keeps saying at 27 this guy should have growm out of this stupidity.
Unfortunately stupidity is a lifestyle choice and most idiots stay idiots until the day they die.
I regrettably know more than enough idiots in their forties and fifties.

I think the Idea of the traffic lights is that the 37 year old wouldnt be pulling out if he was sitting at a red light. It really is upsetting to see a story like this, and i hope the drivers never drive again.

It's 80. Three lanes of drag strips similar to Mahoney's road in Thomastown.

Innocent?
He broke the law, sure the ramificationswere high, but certainly not innocent.

The speeder/racer was not the only one in this incodent who broke the law. Or are we back on the 'speed kills' campaign?

Oh totally agree with what zdcol71 has said ........ please re read what you just said.

If you modify your car or associated with a car forum you most probably have been involved in street racing .... ?

These guys were stupid because something went wrong ....... ?

These comments in a car/modifying forum is offensive to most here and if you cannot see that you are not welcome here. If you want to answer these questions, do so in PM ...... not here as this is getting off topic and not required.

My absolute condolences go out to those left behind and just adds to the negative side of the car and drag scene ..... not helped also by the comments above.

I cant speak for any one else, but I know I havent fallen in to your generalisation

what has happend is terible, and I share the sentiments of many who have posted above, if street raceing is your thing I can only hope that you never hurt any one and get caught before you do

You're correct, anyone up for some street racing tonight? We all modify our cars to thrash them and put innocent lives in danger. Yeah that's the stuff, better than sex ain't it?
