i gotta agree dash, i think the base of fords has gone the wrong way with making the XR6 the main entry lvl now, it just sort of loses something.

i love the fact that the EB etc xr6's were something special. they had the look etc even now when ya see them its a case of wow look at that. even the BA/f to an extent. fg's are just boring with out going to FPV brand.

That is just giving people more bang for buck. XR6 is fine as entry, it is not as if it is well appointed in standard trim against the competition at similar price points, and as for performance.... The current one would whop all the old XR6s in any measure anyway. And whop a GTHO PH III... And probably BA GTs.... And all XR8s... That's progress... This isn't an XR discussion anyway or what FPV should have done even perhaps... But where it goes from here...

I agree regarding preference of a Ford badge over an FPV badge. Furthermore, if the GT-HO ever does make a return, I think it should be badged as Ford.

Why? You would then just complain that the XR8 was too expensive.

Or do you think the starter button, stripes and FPV badge is the actual reason why the GS is $10,000 dearer than the XR6T...........

Interesting as one of the key points I remember being raised when FG FPV came out from the covers was that people were very happy to see those cars branded as an FPV. Is that now not the case?

Depends if they can keep Fpv going as a performance vehicle builder.
Would it work better as a specialist tuner with performance kits available for all Fords.

Like walkinshaw?

You'd still need to have the factory hotrod's that are the GS, GT and F6...

It would be good if you could get you FPV further tuned via herrod...with some HO/Phase auto body additions....

Rejuvenate FPV ?
If a 335 RWKW supercharged V8 can't "rejuvenate" them - then they may as well wrap it up and they can all go home.

Letting FORD take over completely is not the answer at all.....they are in enough strife already , the last thing they have the energy and foresight for is performance cars.....

With competition in a niche market as small as Australia and with heavy investment in local R&D - something had to give. FPV have given us the car we always wanted......the keyboard critics are still driving around in E series falcons and FPV are scratching their heads wondering what they may have done wrong.

I like the fact that my car has been tinkered with by the local skunkworks and not on the standard broadly line. In fact I removed the FORD badges and replaced them on my b series with FPV badges.

It will be a very sad day if FPV fold completely and we go back to S pack specials
The best Fords in the last 20 years have come from Tickford and FPV..... Ford have only been sperm donors.

I just hope that FPV are around for long enough to have a go at another major performance car with 3 letters GTH before it becomes the imminent 3 letters RIP.

Maybe FORD HQ (US) wants to have a Global presence with their SVT Brandage here in AUS.
This restructure, to tidy a few things up, may make it easier to buy Prodrive out of their ownership.

I guess, in the end, this can't be a bad thing. More resources within the Ford/SVT team to breathe more life into our RWD Falcon or whatever it'll be called in the future.

Think we all want FPV to succeed.
How they are perceived in the market place and what customer they achieve is the thing.
Seems to be plenty of high priced imports being sold these days, so price shouldn't be a concern with the performance and ability of the vehicles they make.
I find the range of vehicles built to really cover high end performance cars well.
Just stuck as to why someone will pay $120k for a low spec Benz but wont $80k for a high end Falcon.
Brand snobbery or fact your $80k Falcon is available as a $34k base model.

You can have a Mercedes E Class for less than a GT-P, let alone a C Class.. Different cars I know, but the Euro war is hotting up with Merc trying to steal BMW's thunder with the aspirational class. If we could buy BMW/Merc/Porsche here for what they cost overseas FPV/HSV would have gone out the back door many years ago.

Mountain out of a molehill I think.

I reckon its nothing more than cost cutting, getting rid of a bunch of office staff who's jobs can be done by people already employed by Ford. Ford cut a lot of people late last year, but FPV didn't. Could just be a case of this being FPV's turn. When people got the chop last year others had to pick up the slack and take up extra work, maybe now these FPV people have been sacked the Ford guys will take on their jobs.

When you change suppliers - its cost cutting
When you change to cheaper parts - its cost cutting
When you offer less for more - its cost cutting

When you sack your top dog and get rid of certain staff that may have been partial to legacy management - it aint cost cutting - its a sign of imminent direction and philosophy change

WOW . IT'S amazing how all of a sudden there are/have been huge problems with FPV, dating all the way back to EB falcon , and now people have been sacked and FPV is closing down because there is no ford/falcon badge on the car that people didnt want on there when the ba was out .

HOW ABOUT THIS REASON !!!! FORD HAVE DONE THEIR RESEARCH AND REALISED THAT MOST PEOPLE THAT COMMENT ON FORDS , HAVE A mental stability problem , and are smoking thier money into deeper delusions, it is only a matter of time before some of them will be test driving nissan xtrails , and others will be asking for capital punishment cause fpv , spent too much on a supercharged engine that everyone wanted , in the new focus VW , ERRR , those wheels on the hsv are ford , or is that fpvs problem cause the el had a body kit , but was slower than the xr6. nissan VL COMMADORE AND BEHIND VOLVO SAFETY STANDARDS, VEHICLES IN CHINA , are catching up , australian bludgers have a lot to worry about , heres one for ya 2 top executives at fpv wewre stood down recently , now if that ebxr6 only had wider rubber and a v8 engine and different headlights , the mining and carbon tax OMG . ANYONE KNOW A HELP LINE NUMBER , wait telstra call out centres are in india , we might have some crippling strikes tomorrow . pmfffft

Meh you know it all as per usual.

XR8 ute sales alone contributed up to 250 sales per month some months. Not everyone wants 19 inch rims and a starter button, especially not when its considerably dearer then an XR6 Turbo when in reality it really should not be 10 kay dearer. (If they had higher production they could spread the 40 million across more units) and the motor would be alot cheaper then it is. More units = cheaper cars across the range.

Its too late now anyhow to turn the ship, whats done is done.

Then we are interested to hear what you have to say. But as we don't know who you are and what your bonofides are how could you expect any other response. I understand if you work there then your anonimity is important, at least for now. But you must forgive other members scepticism.

So real question. Is it about to become SVT?

Yes but whos building them, where are they being built and under the current circumstances it will be difficult to maintain the high standards that FPV have employed to date.
It may turn out OK but I wouldnt want a car built during this transition period.
