Default Does ECU need to reset after battery change?

Can someone tell me if the ECU goes through a reset process after changing the battery?

I put a new one in the Futura (6 cyl) yesterday after the old one died and the motor has since developed a shudder when slowing to a stop at lights/stop sign etc, and occasionally when taking off?

Any ideas as to what it might be? The car was running fine previously.

Thanks Mik! From that topic it sounds like the ECU/motor is suffering from that stall point issue. Tomorrow I'll disconnect the battery again then run through that idling procedure.
